“Happily, but only if you bite me as well.” The hunger in his eyes makes them sparkle like sapphires, and his voice is raspy with need.

I can’t hide my surprise. “You want me to bite you again?”

“Yes, I loved it.” His fingers dig into my ass as he increases his pace. “I’ve never come like that before.”

Rocking my hips to meet his thrusts, I grin. “Then I will, but perhaps we should lie down for that.”

He grins back at me. “I think you might be right.”

Before I have time to prepare myself, I land on my back on the bed with Lucas on top of me and still inside me. He’s supporting his weight on his hands, so I’m not crushed beneath him when we bounce on the bed.

He drives into me using quick, deep strokes, and the sweet pleasure in my lower belly builds quickly. When I’m right on the edge, he nestles into the crook of my neck and sinks his teeth into my flesh.

I bite down on his shoulder, and my whole body explodes with pleasure beyond anything I’ve ever felt before. Waves of ecstasy crash through me, and it’s spurred on by my mate’s cock jerking violently inside me and his orgasm filling me to meld with my own.

And beyond the pleasure is an incredible feeling of being one, the two of us tied together by love and blood forever.

Epilogue

Markus

“What? You’re saying you allowed this to happen?” Ronan, the air elemental sounds both surprised and suspicious on the phone.

“No, believe it or not, they didn’t intend to mate, but as it turns out, they’re good together. They love each other deeply and that makes all the difference. Instead of tearing them apart and killing them both, the mating bond is binding them together and making them both stronger.” It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it.

An image of Lynette pops into my mind, but I immediately push it away as I tighten my grip on the phone. That can’t happen. Even if I were open to the idea, I don’t think she is.

“So, what does this mean for the rest of us? As long as we find someone who loves us, we can mate?” Ronan sounds bitter, and I can’t blame him after what happened with Patricia a couple of centuries ago.

My frown has nothing to do with Patricia, though. It’s brought on by the only elemental who has ever died. And all because he mated the wrong woman. She didn’t really care about him. All she wanted was the power and status she thought she would get by being with him. But all she really got in the end was a painful death.

My voice is steely when I continue. “Mating is still to be taken seriously. To even consider it, you have to be sure the woman loves you with all her heart. And equally important, you have to love her.”

Ronan chuckles, but the sound is full of bitterness. “Yeah, well, mating is not for me, so you don’t have to worry about me choosing the wrong person.”

I’m not surprised. “Okay. Keep an eye out for any sign of the brotherhood being active in your area. We don’t know much about their numbers or locations yet. But I’m sure they’ve already left Long Island.”

“I will. Just keep me updated.”

“I will.”

After ending the call, I put the phone down. The only one on my team I haven’t talked to yet is Aidan, and he already knows about the brotherhood and Lucas’s mating. But I will call him anyway to give him the latest update. Right after I’ve had breakfast.

My eyes land on the bed as I get to my feet. I should get some rest. But I can’t even contemplate getting into that bed right now, because I know exactly what will happen when I do.

Images of Lynette will fill my mind, and I’ll be tempted to go to her. Just the thought of her sleeping in the room next-door is enough to make my cock thicken.

I groan and fist my hands. I need to beat this growing attraction to her. It’s making me weak and stupid.

“And dishonest.” I shake my head at myself in disgust. Lynette already concluded that the master is her maker, and I had my chance to come clean about what I knew in the limo earlier. But instead I chose to be a coward and pretend I didn’t know who he was.Fuck, I’m a disgrace.

Pressing my lips together in determination, I step out into the corridor. Perhaps I can put Lynette and my own stupidity to the back of my mind while I have breakfast. Even if it won’t help me sleep, at least I can get some work done.

Aidan

I listen as Markus recounts everything that’s happened to Lucas and what they’ve discovered about the brotherhood. It’s still hard to believe my brother has taken a mate, and even more so that Markus sounds okay with it.
