“Tell me again nothing is going on between you and Brandon,” Megan whispered into my ear when we started to make our way off the bus.

I didn’t even realize he was here until Megan pointed it out.

He pushed himself up from the hood of his car when I cast my gaze on him. Dressed in jeans, a snug shirt, and dark shades covering up his grey orbs.

“Nothing is going on,” I tried once again to dispel her doubts.

“Have you never in your life gotten a funny jittery feeling in the pit of your stomach?” She asked giving me a doubtful look when Brandon came over to help with my bags.

“Only before a game,” I responded and smiled when she rolled her eyes at me.

“Of course,” She muttered and mumbled a halo to Brandon before she walked away.

He gave me a questioning look. “It feels like I miss out on a good party.” He noted, looking at the girls who were still half asleep even after getting in 5 hours of sleep on the bus.

“We made new friends and had them take us around town forgetting that we have an early day today,” I explained, helping him to get my bags and start making our way over to his car.

“How did you know we are arriving today?” It was probably a dumb question because his crush was around and should have informed him. I looked around trying to see if I could spot the girl that was head over heels in love with him, but no one paid attention to him.

“Your dad,” He answered, giving me a questioning look when he caught me gazing around.

“Jonah’s got a game and I offered to pick you up while they head over to be there for him. He would only want to show off when he knows I am there.” He explained.

His eyes didn’t leave me since we arrived and I expected them to dwell around as he admitted to me that his heart belonged to someone else. He wouldn’t be interested in me since I informed him a couple of times that I had no intention of getting into a romantic relationship with anyone.

“Are we still going to be in time to see him play?” I haven’t been to Jonah’s practices in a long time and I trust Brandon has been working with him on his skills.

“We will probably be in time for the second half if we leave now.” He said pointing at his watch.

“What are we waiting for?”

He chuckled and got behind the wheel while I said my final goodbyes to the girls.

“We are going to Megan’s mansion of a house; she got a swimming pool and knows the best recipe for cocktails. Want to join?” Tammy asked.

“Tempting but I am going to my little brother’s game.” I didn’t want to miss it.

She quirked an eyebrow and soon everyone overheard as they came over to us.

“What game?” Clarissa asked.

“He is an ice hockey player who dreams of becoming a pro like Brandon and it’s his second game that I seriously don’t want to miss.”

“Well, then it’s settled. Let’s go support our captain’s little brother.” I frowned at them when all of them agreed to join me.

“You guys don’t have to do that.” I tried.

“Hey, Adams. Have you forgotten that we are family now?” Clarissa asked and the team gave me pointed stares as if they wanted to remind me.

“I don’t want to overwhelm him.” Jonah doesn’t do good when he is under pressure.

“I’ll be quiet,” Clarissa assured me and I realized that nothing was going to convince them to drop it.

“Fine, let’s get going then.” I went back over to Brandon who was waiting patiently for me. He started the engine of the car and pulled out of the parking lot—driving us over to the ice rink.

The girls were quiet as promised when we arrived.

I frowned when I found Jonah sitting in the box as his team was out on the ice and it wasn’t looking too bright for them.
