“Is this your first time at the bridge?”
“Yeah… I didn’t want to tempt fate. I’ve walked the trails around here, though. You?”
“There wasn’t any fear of tempting fate once I met you, so I’ve been here once or twice while exploring the area.”
“Because you knew immediately I was yourheart spark.” She rolls her eyes like she doesn’t believe me, but the twitch of a smile on her lips says the sentiment pleases her all the same.
We step around a couple stopped in the middle of the bridge for a selfie, continuing our ambling journey forward. “Don’t actlike I was the only one who knew. I fielded a ton of shit from the guys for how far gone I was—am—for you.”
“Caroline and the gang were the same with me. Freakingheart sparkdetectors,” she jokes.
Once we reach the end of the bridge, she looks up at me with an impish expression. “Well? Do you still love me? Am I still yourheart spark?”
“Damn straight.” An older couple reprimands me for cursing, and Lindy giggles. Drawing her away from the crowd of people, I wrap her in my arms, relishing the privilege of holding her so close. There was a time I never thought this would happen. When I thought I fucked up so badly that Lindy would never let me near her again.
Thank fuck I was wrong.
Because I need my Lindy Girl—she’s my heart and soul.
My brave littleheart spark.
