“You’re welcome. And good job in that fight.”
Ice nodded.
Cortez suddenly spoke up.
“You may have defeated me. But I’m only one man. Vengeful Claw will have our vengeance and wewillcarve out a piece of this land for ourselves. We will make our own nation,” he swore with zealous conviction.
“You and what army?” Jax asked. “Because we already captured all your troops.”
Cortez didn’t say anything to that.
“Yeah. That’s what I thought. Let’s go.” Jax gave him a shove and marched him out of the forest.
Ice looked at his mate. He hadn’t killed Cortez, but he felt satisfied that he’d exacted payback for the hotel bomb. He knew Hazard would still love him even if he’d lost, but he was proud to stand before his omega as the victor.
Hazard smiled up at him. “I knew you would win.”
“Did you?”
“Absolutely. Wolf or man, no one defeats Captain Ice Anderson.”
Ice laughed. “I appreciate your confidence in me. Now let’s get these fuckers back to base.”
Chapter 60
They’d done it. Captured Cortez. Taken down his rogue pack and stopped his plans to oust the Snow Walkers from their lands. The rebel leader was in cuffs, sitting on the ground along with his captured comrades, with the 448 support team standing guard over them.
The mission was over but Hazard was still full of adrenaline. He restlessly fidgeted while they waited for ex-fil. His heart pumped hard, sending blood rushing through his veins. Hazard cracked his neck, fingers flexing with the urge todosomething. Run some laps, swim a fucking river, climb one of the trees behind them. He didn’t care what he did, he just had tomove.
Hazard glanced over at Ice, who was leaning against a tree at the edge of the clearing. The alpha was redressed in his uniform and gear, wolf mask back in place. Unlike Hazard, Ice was motionless and appeared calm. But even at rest he had a quietly lethal aura. The power in his big, strong body was only temporarily leashed, ready to break free and take down their enemies at a moment’s notice.
A shiver went through Hazard as he let his gaze slip from the wolf mask all the way down to the captain’s boots. Every part of Ice’s body was trained to bring pain to anyone who crossed him. But it brought Hazard nothing but pleasure.
When Hazard looked back up he made eye contact with his mate. Ice was staring at him with fire lighting up his dark eyes. In an instant, Hazard’s urge to move morphed into lust. He knewwhat he needed. He needed to be fucked by his mate to burn off the leftover adrenaline.
Ice suddenly pushed himself off the tree. “Let’s go,” he said to Hazard before he turned around and strolled into the forest.
Hazard was in motion before it had even registered that he was following the order, feet swiftly crossing the grass to catch up to the captain’s long-legged strides.
“Ex-fil is in twenty,” Ortiz called out the reminder.
“Roger that,” Ice called back.
They went deep into the forest, their boots crunching over undergrowth. Once they were out of hearing and scent range of their team, Ice stopped. He grabbed Hazard and pushed him up against a thick tree trunk, stepping in close until their tactical vests brushed together.
“Figured I’d better get you out of there before they all smelled your arousal,” Ice said in a husky whisper. “That’s for me only.”
“It’s your fault I got turned on.” Hazard paused to slowly run his tongue over his bottom lip. “I was thinking about running laps until I looked at you.”
Ice tilted his head to the side in question. “What’d I do to get you going?”
“Nothing,” Hazard said with a shake of his head. “Looking at you, powerful and victorious after taking down our enemy, got me hot.”
“Is that right?”
“Yeah.”
“You like being fucked by the winner?”
