“No, of course not, you are our mate, Ginger.” Ross held up a hand to stop his partner.

“I don’t understand.” Ginger sat down in a chair at the table, ignoring the grumble coming from Misha.

“How did you get invited to this island?” Ross asked, sharing a glance with Misha that made her more than curious.

After her explanation, both men cursed soundly. Leaving her wincing at some of their word choices.

“I’m going to kill that fucking Dragon.” Misha slammed a fist on the table.

“Or thank him. She is our mate, Misha,” Ross said.

Misha stomped over to the side table in the living room where his cell phone rested. Both men were oblivious to the fact they were just, you know, swinging free. Ginger licked her lips, mind back on smexy times.

Sigh. She shook her head. Her pink girly bits would just have to wait. This was no time to let her hormones run wild. Something big was happening, and those butterflies in her stomach were back and beating their wings into a whirlwind of anxiety.

“Are you texting him?” Ross asked Misha.

“You’re damn straight I am,” he growled.

“Misha, come on, what are you doing that for?”

“Because she doesn’t know what we are, Ross! Do you realize what we’ve done? We have claimed a normal who does not know of our existence.” Deep brown hair began to sprout over his arms and chest.

Ginger blinked, and the fur was gone. Did she imagine it? She did not think so. Fear and nerves warred within her, and she licked her lips. There was a familiar pattern here. A striking resemblance to so many of the books she loved to read. But could it be?

Anger, excitement, and confusion. All three rose inside of her like the tide. Mostly she was annoyed that Misha and Ross still hadn’t addressed her. Oh, heck no. That was so not going to fly.

“Excuse me.” Still they argued among themselves. “Hey! Eyes over here.” She snapped her fingers and both men turned to her.

Ross was grinning, and Misha looked damn near astonished. Well, too bad for him! She was pissed and she would not be ignored for one more minute.

“Look, I am sitting right here. Now, put the phone down and talk to me, dammit!”

Typically, Ginger was a calm and patient woman. It was part of what made her such a wonderful teacher. Not everyone could deal with temper tantrums all day. Luckily, that skill set was going to come in handy with these two. Gosh, were all men like toddlers?

She felt their minor annoyance at the comparison, and shock replaced her snark. What the heck? Did they just read her mind?

“Yes, love,” Ross answered out loud. “We can pick up on each other’s thoughts now. With practice, it will be easier to control what we hear, and our voices will be clearer in your head as well.”

“What?” She shook her head. That was impossible. Things like that could not happen in the real world.

“Actually, it is very possible. Probable in fact,” Ross tried to explain.

“Ginger,” Misha exhaled slowly, and she could see he was trying for a calm that seemed to elude him at the moment. “I think you better sit down, and please, try to keep an open mind.”
