Chapter 12

After a long, overdue discussion with her father, Ginger sat between both her mates on their private jet for the flight to her new home. Trepidation and fear batted at her reserve, but Ginger felt her mates’ feelings cradle her, and she calmed immediately. The two men had kept the words to themselves, but she felt it all the same. Love. Theirs, hers, combined and individually. And it warmed her to the depths of her soul.

“You’re going to love Kodiak Island,” Ross said, kissing her fingertips.

“I know.” She nodded. “The Internet had the most beautiful articles and photographs of it.”

“The Clan is going to love you too,” Misha inserted.

And of course, leave it to him to touch on her genuine fear. She’d been worried about that for days now. After receiving a brief text and call from Ani, assuring her and Sage that she was safe. The other two Freeman sisters stayed behind with their men. Sage was getting to know her mates and trying to decide if she wanted to stay claimed. But Ginger already knew she wanted her own men more than anything.

They’d spent the last two days in various stages of undress after moving her things into the private bungalow her mates had rented. Their carnal appetites matched her own, and for once, she was not embarrassed or ashamed of them.

Her mates let her know just how much they wanted her with every whispered word, meaningful stare, and tender caress. The whole experience was, in a word, blissful. No matter what, Ginger knew this was what she wanted. Hell, more like what she needed.

Her old life was behind her now, and she could not wait to see what the future held in store for her. Kodiak Island, she thought dreamily. It was where the rest of her story would be written.

“Did you see the look on Mr. Gardner’s face when you two walked in with me to get the rest of my stuff, and to hand in my resignation?” She giggled, thinking of her old boss.

The insufferable man had it coming. Of course, her mates had wanted to pummel the creep into dust, but why should they go through all that trouble? He was nothing to her. Just a blip on the timeline of her life.

“How about when he asked if one of us was your boyfriend and we both said yes,” Ross snorted.

Leave it to her playful Elk to hit the nail on the head. She knew in the beginning he was the talker of the two, but she had no idea he was a prankster as well. Still, it was worth putting the smug bastard who was her former boss in his proper place. Which was essentially out of her business and her life.

“You didn’t have to both grab my ass on the way out,” she insisted.

“But that’s one of our favorite parts of you.” Misha wiggled his eyebrows.

“You are incorrigible.” She pursed her lips, and he kissed them, hard. Just how she liked him.

“For you, love, only for you,” Ross said, and kissed her neck too.

Oh yes, life was going to be remarkably interesting from now on, she thought as the plane taxied on the runway. Her nerves were on hyper alert, but she steadied herself with one simple truth. No matter what happened next, Ginger was where she was meant to be.

Breathing deeply, she felt Ross squeeze her hand, and she exhaled. The first thing Ginger noted when the plane touched down was the chill in the air. Even though, technically, it was summer, she’d read the weather on Kodiak Island never went above sixty degrees. Something she’d resigned herself to when she’d decided to stay theirs. What did she care about the chill when she had her mates to keep her warm?

Sighing, she turned her head at the sound of the hatch opening. Then, the second thing she noticed as the door opened to reveal a stunning female who happened to smile with a little too much friendly emphasis at one of her mates, was that Ginger had a little side-effect from their mating. An unexpected side-effect.

It should also be remarked upon, that when Ginger said little, well, of course, that was all relative.

“Mine!” Ginger snarled and leapt over the row of chairs.

She bared her suddenly elongated fangs and roared loudly in the face of the female who dropped to her knees under the force of Ginger’s sudden anger.

“Yes, Alpha mate,” the woman said. “I’m sorry.”

Something inside of Ginger, a strange growly part of her that seemed to mimic her mates’ own animal natures, was appeased at the sight of the woman’s submission. A little too appeased, Ginger thought with a wave of nausea.

Still, she growled one more time for good measure. Then she turned around as she sniffed and picked up on the unparalleled scent that was her mates’ arousal.

It seemed her men liked her new possessive side. Yummy.

“Yes,” Misha growled, sliding his big, bulky arm around her waist.

“Yours.” Ross nudged her with his nose, kissing her neck. Ginger sighed and snuggled into their embrace, but she had yet to cut off her angry growl.

“Allow her to rise, love. She is one of our Clan. She is yours to protect,” he told her softly.
