Page 7 of Loving Jamie

I watch William's face go through a range of emotions before he nods his head and clears his throat. “I like both of you. I liked you individually when I first met you, and then when I discovered you were together, I have to admit it felt like a kick in the gut. I'm worried about a couple of things, I am open to getting to know both of you more, but I want to take things slow.”
Jamie grabs my hand underneath the table and squeezes me tightly. I know how badly he wants this to work out between us.
I nod my head. “I completely understand your concerns. This is going to take some trial and error, but as long as we all agree on open communication, I think we should be ok.”
Jamie sips his drink before he says, “Plus, we will all be spending more time with each other since Jude and Nate are now official.”
The waiter comes over and takes our food order, promising our meals will be with us soon, and then walks away.
Jamie bursts out laughing. William and I stare at him as we watch his eyes fill with tears. When he finally calms down enough to speak, he says, “Do you know what this means?”
I raise an eyebrow and William shrugs his shoulders.
“If Nate and Jude get married, you two are going to be brothers-in-law!”
William's head turns so fast to look at me I’m surprised he didn’t give himself whiplash. His eyes are wide open and his jaw is slack.
This sets Jamie off again. He’s banging his fist against the table and his head is thrown back in laughter.
William is still in shock. I mean, I realised that one day we could be considered brothers-in-law, but I don’t think it's that big of a deal.
William opens his mouth and says, “Well, it's not like we’re blood related, is it? Being in a throuple is already considered abnormal so people are already going to feel a certain way about us, anyway.”
I nod my head and say, “That’s true. But please just don’t ever call me brother.”
This sets Jamie off again, his loud laugh catching the attention of other diners in the restaurant. He wriggles his eyebrows and says, “So I'm going to have two Daddies who are alsobrothers. How kinky is that!”
I roll my eyes as William tells him to behave.
Sometime later, we’ve finished our food and are drinking some coffee while we all get to know each other a little better. Jamie is telling us about his family, or lack thereof. “My parents haven't spoken to me since I was eighteen, so six-ish years ago. I told them I was gay from a young age, but I think me telling them and them seeing it with their own eyes freaked them out. I mean, they walked in on me on my knees one time and all hell broke loose.”
I tilt my head in confusion as I ask, “Wait, how didn’t I know this? I mean, you and Jude have been glued at the hip since you were both ten years old.”
Jamie rolls his eyes. “We’ve been best friends since we were kids, but you and I have only gotten to know each other recently, so obviously you wouldn’t have known. Plus, there wasn’t much anybody could have done. They kicked me out the day I turned eighteen and I got a flat and started working.”
William sips the last of his coffee and says, “Does it not bother you that they don’t talk to you?”
Jamie shakes his head. “Not really. I mean, yeah, it’s shitty that they turned their backs on me, but I still have my twin sister, Sarah. She never stopped talking to me and we see each other quite often. I have Jude as well, so I was never alone.”
Thinking about my brother Jude makes me glad that they found each other at such a young age. It seems the best friends have both been through some shit, but at least they had each other.
Jamie grabs William’s hand and says, “Anyway, enough depressing things about my life. Tell me more about yourself, William.”
William shrugs his shoulders and says, “Uh, well, I’m thirty-two. My parents had me and then a few months later got pregnant with Nate, so it was nice growing up together. I went to college and then university to get my business management degree. I always wanted to run my own business, and when I discovered the kink lifestyle, I knew I eventually wanted to open my own BDSM club.”
Nodding my head, I ask, “So, have you been in the kink lifestyle for a while, then?”
He nods. “Yeah, for around ten years, give or take. What about you guys?”
Jamie says, “I started when I was eighteen. An old boyfriend introduced me and I've been hooked ever since.” His shoulders stiffen and his eyes darken as he mentions an old boyfriend.
I look at William and he’s studying Jamie; he then looks at me before raising an eyebrow. I'm glad he also noticed Jamie’s demeanour change.
I grab Jamie’s hand and ask, “Do you want to tell us about this boyfriend?”
He squeezes my hand tightly for a second and then loosens his hold. “Not really. All you need to know for now is that he wasn’t the best boyfriend. Let’s leave it at that.”
