I nod my head, not quite making eye contact.

“Vincent, you’re an idiot.”

Now that forces me to lock eyes with him. “What the fuck? I was doing the right thing. Yeah, William shouldn’t have really gotten involved. All though, he was just speeding up the inevitable. David wouldn’t have forgiven me when the truth came out. Trust me the guy hates my guts.”

“Oh, get over yourself. Yeah, you shouldn’t have lied to him and when you realised that he worked at the club, you should have come clean about your identity. But, don’t you think the guy deserves to make that decision for himself?”

Nate's phone rings, saving me from more of an ass-chewing. “Go and talk to him and make this right. You fucked up!”

I tut and pull myself up from the bed and grab all my shit from behind the reception desk before making my way home. My head is banging with every step I take and the backs of my eyes are stinging, but I refuse to shed any tears over it.

I knew I shouldn’t have listened to William and maybe I took the coward's way out by ghosting David, I just didn’t want to see the disappointment or anger on his handsome face. And I do still feel like he deserves a boy who knows what he's doing and that just isn't me. I’m toonew, tooinexperiencedfor him.

But what if there's a chance that we could have had something? Something special. He could be the perfect Master that I’ve been longing for, for all these years. And I know that with some training I could be the perfect toy for him. It would take some time, but I think I could do it.

Unless, I’ve fucked it all up.

Chapter 18 –

David

My original plan of trying to figure out the identity of the brat has flopped; everyone I’ve spoken to has their lips locked and aren’t willing to spill the beans on who he is.

Which is now how I’ve found myself outside of my boss’s office, preparing to ask him to break private records to tell me his name. Just as I’m hyping myself up, I hear voices from inside the room.

I hold up my fist, ready to knock on the door when I hear my name being shouted.

“You fucked up big time, William. You had no right telling him to stay away from David. I don’t know everything that's happened between them, but I heard enough from Vincent, to know you shouldn’t have butted into their business.”

Vincent? As in Vincent from the tattoo shop? The man who made it his personal mission to screw with me every time we crossed paths?

I hear more mumbled words through the door and then a heavy set of footsteps. I turn around and walk away before anyone leaves the room. I peek around the wall and spot Nate storming away.

Pulling my phone from my pocket, I send a quick message to Jude, asking him to meet me as soon as he’s free.

He texts me back a minute later, agreeing to meet up for lunch tomorrow. With that settled, I put my phone away and make my checks in all of the playrooms. The night is still young, but the club is already packed with kinksters having a good time.

I cross paths with William a couple of times during the night, but decide to keep what I heard to myself for the time being, not wanting to bring anymore unnecessary drama to the workplace.

After getting home from my shift last night, I ended up staying up late trying to figure out how I wanted the conversation to go with Jude. I know I could have chosen Jamie to speak to about this, but I can’t be bothered with him going straight back home to my boss and revealing that I’m snooping around for information.

I arrive at the restaurant earlier than the time Jude and I agreed on, wanting to get my bearings sorted before being face to face with the man.

When the waiter seats me at a table, I order a glass of water and explain I’m waiting for someone else to join me, before ordering any food.

It doesn’t take long for someone to join me at the table, and when I look up, I see that Jude isn’t alone, Nate is with him.

I don’t know why I didn’t anticipate Jude bringing his partner, but maybe this conversation will go a lot better, considering what I heard behind the closed door at the club last night.

Nate pulls a chair out for Jude, before sitting down himself.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mention that I was bringing Nate. He kind of invited himself when I told him I was meeting with you, I hope that's ok?”

I shake my head. “No, don’t apologise. It’s actually better that you’re here,” I smile at Nate.

A waiter comes over to our table and asks for our orders. I order a steak and chips; Nate orders the same while Jude chooses a chicken burger. The waiter tells us our food will arrive shortly and then we’re left in an awkward silence.

Just as I’m about to break it, Nate says, “No point pussyfooting around it. You’re here to talk about Vincent?”
