“There you… oh, well, never mind, do whatever you're doing.” Her friend says shutting it right away with a mischievous smile on her face.
“Come with me.” I start heading back upstairs. When she’s not following me, I stop and cock a brow at her. She's pondering if to come up or not but then she joins me.
When we get into the office, she pauses to look around. I drag her toward the mirror window that overviews the club. “Who's the reason you're running away?”
“Who said it's for someone?” She asks but her gaze goes to the VIP where her friends are. A few couples, two guys and three girls.
“I don't like to see my customers leaving sad, plus it's your birthday. Whatever bothers you, I'll get rid of it.”
A smile escapes her. A genuine smile that makes my heart skip a beat. “Thank you, but I can't ask you that much. Better go back to the party.”
“Wait, Princess.”
She spins around with a growl, hands fan on her hips. “What now, am I in trouble?”
“Yeah, I'll spank your ass later for that bratty attitude.” I joke. Her cheeks turn a lovely shade of pink. “Just kidding, Princess.” She storms out of the office shaking her head and I find myself smiling.
I follow her steps while she walks past the bar. She lifts her eyes and I’m pretty sure I saw a smile. The Princess joins her friends and I've spotted the one who has made her feel so uncomfortable. I don't know why but seeing her upset got me nervous and when I am, I’m a wrecking ball. Clenching my fists, I move away and head downstairs.
The music envelops me as I pat one of my brothers’ shoulders. “J, how's it going?”
He nods while shaking a drink. “Great, Rock, everyone is enjoying their night.”
“Then you're doing your job well. Do you have the bottle for the birthday party?”
“Yep,” he points at the maxi bottle while his eyes get bigger and chuckles looking behind me. I turn around and see a huge bunch of roses.Fuck!
“Here you go, Rock,” says Di, handing them to me. I stare at them and then at her shitty face. “What? You said bring me some roses, I didn't know how many.”
“At least they're not all red.” I grumble while taking them.
“She will love them.” Her smile gets bigger.
I shake my head. Sometimes I wish she could stop reading my mind.
Chapter Two
Ashley
How pathetic could someone be for wanting to leave their party? Blake wasn't supposed to be here, but Kelly has assured me she didn't invite him. Amanda has asked her if she could bring someone, and she agreed. No one knew she was dating him. Disgust rushes over me but as long she’s okay with someone who can’t keep his dick in his pants, I’m good with it.
At least I've seen Rock one more time. His touch made my legs jelly, and I was about to say I'd gladly bend over his knees only to spend a few more minutes with him. I guess the alcohol is kicking in and that means enough drinks for me but God he's pure sex. Maybe at the end of the night I may ask for his phone number. No, I’ll make him ask mine that way I won’t lookthatdesperate.
The conversation shifts toward the hockey team until everyone stares behind me. A weird feeling washes over me that makes me freeze. Is Dad here?
“Oh, you lucky bitch!” Kelly whispers nudging me. I turn around, and seeing Rock walking toward us makes my heart hammer in my chest.
“Happy birthday, Princess.” He hands me the roses with a smile. Someone pops the champagne as the confetti starts coming down making me giggle. I'm surprised he has managed to organize all this but still I'm not fooling myself. It's part of their service for sure. After a toast, Rock grabs my hand and drags me on the dance floor. His touch ignites a powerful reaction making all my body feel covered in goosebumps.Okay, Ash, enough alcohol for you!
Rock swirls me around and brings me close. “What the hell are you doing?” I whisper in his ear.
“Dance.”
“What's this all about? The champagne, roses, confetti? Is it a kind of prank?” I stop dancing but he pivots me, pulling me into him.
“It's something theZBEoffers. I didn't want to offend you.”
“Oh, really?” I mock him. Somehow a part of me doesn't believe him.
