HIs smile was bright as he got dressed again.
“That’s a win for me, then,” he said. “And now I get to go to work and I hope they know exactly what we just did.”
I threw on a robe and walked him to the door, wishing he could stay longer. I wasn’t quite ready for it all to end.
He pressed a single kiss to my lips before giving me a wink and turning to leave.
I watchhim walk down the corridor, and the stench of Seph assaults my nose again.
"I swear to Zeus, if you're naked or in my bed I will send you to the afterlife now," I growl.
"Why aren't you happy to see me, my love?" Seph asks, his green eyes glowing in the darkened room.
"We broke up two centuries ago, it is time for you to move on. Find a nice little dryad to marry and have some babies. Get on with your fucking life, we are over."
"Hade, you are the woman I love. I don't want anyone else," he whines.
"Seph, I've found my soul mates. You have run into one of them. They're not men you want to fuck with. Have you heard of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse? They are the ones I havebeen searching for, and I will not let you ruin this for me. If you truly love me, let me go."
"I will not go without a fight, Hades. You are my one true love; I will make you see that," he says, turning into a puff of flowers as his grand exit.
"Fuck, what a mess," I mutter as I start to gather the flowers and throw them into the fire. I have the last one in hand as there is a knock on my door.
"Hayden, if that is your name, I want a word with you about my husband and Drevi." Brittany's nasal voice floats through the cracks between the door and its frame.
Tossing the last flower into the raging fire, I wave my hand and change into a slinky blood red cocktail dress before opening the door.
Brittany stammers, "I-I-I don't want to see you talking to my husband again, or Drevi, for that matter. They are mine, you will do well to remember that."
"You are more than welcome to do whatever you'd like with my nephew. I have no use for him, ew,” I say, wrinkling my nose in disgust. “As for Drevi, you hold no claim on him. He is mine now. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to see Frank and get a drink. I've had enough with drama and exes, I don't need you to add to it. Run back to my idiot nephew. Play the loving wife and leave Drevi the fuck alone. You don't want to mess with me, my wrath is legendary. Even the God of War cowers before me."
I slam the door closed behind me and stroll the corridor to the elevator.Fuck, I need a drink.
Isuck in a deep breath when Hades walks up to the bar. She’s in a hot little red number that nearly brings me to my knees. Thank the gods I’m standing behind the bar. My cock strains against my pants.
"What'll it be?" I ask, voice low and sultry.
"I was told that the bartender was not only the best in town but hot to boot. I had to come see for myself, where can I find him?" She winks.
"He must have the night off. I'm the only option you've got," I tease, leaning over the bar top.
"Dang, must not be my night," she jokes, her laughter coming easier than it did the first time we met. "First, that bitch comes to my room complaining about Ares and Drevi, and now the hot bartender isn't on duty."
Out of the corner of my eye I notice a new patron has taken a seat. I give her a little wave and return to Hades. "Duty calls."
Staying pressed close to the bar, I take the woman’s order andmake the drinks.
She gives me a wink and slides over a tip. “Keep the change, just because you’re cute.”
Normally I would watch her walk away but I have no desire when this gorgeous woman is mere feet away. Instead, I check on the other customers quickly so I can return to her.
Then I freeze. "Fuck."
In the seat next to Hades, is none other than Ashley, my spitfire of an ex.
In all the centuries we’ve been alive, she was the first woman I truly loved. Our breakup was mutual and we are still great friends, but that doesn’t mean I want her to meet Hades.
Not yet, at least.
