“Deis, I can’t do this. This is not me.”

“They can’t see you.”

“But it won’t stop. I will never be able to be a normal person again.”

“No, you won’t, because you never were normal. Now you’re mine, and I don’t intend to let you go, ever.”

“Not helping,” she said with a teasing voice, but she couldn’t stop herself from grinning, his words brushing over her bruised and wounded heart like silk.

He knew very well what his words did to her; his smug grin said as much.

“Listen, you’ll wonder how fast people forget. And the thing with Delilah will be handled,” he said, so causal even careless.

And as they turned into the garage, she tried to breathe all the nasty thoughts in her mind away.

“Deis,” said Ed. “Press is being released this very minute.”

“What press?” she asked him immediately, while a bad foreboding crawled up.

“Something that hopefully will get the target off your back.”

“Deis!”

“You don’t need to worry about it.”

There it was again – the not telling, the evading, the vague answers. But she would not let him. If he wanted her to be his, he would play by her rules.

So, she did something so out of her comfort zone, that it made her chest almost split in discomfort. She leaned over, climbed onto his lap, and sat down on him. From his smug but surprised look, he had not expected it. With her hands, she trailed through his hair and down his neck to his chest. Then, she leaned in onto the side of his face until her lips were next to his ear; His cock swelling against her bottom. And then she whispered into his ear with a voice she did not recognize herself.

“A true king shares everything with his queen.”

DEIS

PLAYLIST: IN THE AIR TONIGHT - NATALIE TAYLOR

Goddamit. She will be the death of me.‘A true king shares everything with his queen.’

The moment her words reached him, an earth-shattering lightning struck through him, blanking his mind, and his carnal instincts took over.

If Ed hadn’t been in the car, he would’ve ripped all her clothes off and had her right now.

She really was a queen.

My queen.

He let his hands trail up to her hair, tamed in a loose bun. He removed the ribbon and let her mane of brown hair fall down. The thick hair, so perfect for grabbing. And as he stroked through the still slightly wet hair from her running endeavors, he took her all in, his Emma. Her soft skin, strong eyes, her attractively blushed cheeks – something in his chest growled longingly.

“You are the most wondrous human I have ever met.”

The way she smiled was honest, something about it told him it was exactly the right thing to say. He meant it, all of it. With her, he did not need to hide or conceal who he was. Everything would fall into place very, very soon. It would be his masterpiece.

And then he cupped her face in his palms and kissed her. Soft and sweet. Because it was what she needed right now. And for the first time in his life, something wasn’t about him. There was nothing to plan, nothing to strategize, nothing to gain. Because he found the woman, that not only quietened his mind but also was the missing piece to his lost soul.

Although he could have stayed in the car and kissed her sweet lips forever, things had to be done, and it was essential to act fast. So, he lifted her out of the car and walked her to the elevator. He took her hand in his, which made her stop in her tracks and stare at him. But he only smiled at her. He wanted her close, not planning to let go of her ever. And to his delight, she, for once, did not protest or tell him to fuck off.

“Deis, what’s been released to the press?” asked Emma again, her eyebrows drawn up as they stepped into the elevator.
