Falling onto the bed, Carson pulls me in close and tucks me into his warm body.“I love you, Lay. I really do,” Carson whispers into my ear. I used to get so excited at hearing these words coming from his lips, but they don't hold the same meaning anymore. Without responding, I scoot in closer and pretend everything's fine. Back to square one, I guess.
Chapter 8
Ryan
After about an hour of dancing with Blaze and Aaron, I finally made my way off the dance floor. I felt like the goddess I am with both men grinding and rubbing on me while keeping my cup filled. Layla hasn’t appeared since we first arrived, so I assume she’s made up with Carson. What a stupid bitch. The anger I feel is unexplainable. I shouldn’t care, but I sense trouble in their little fucked up paradise.
After topping off my cup, I walk through the back door and step out to the perfect August weather. From the lit patio, I see the dock and stroll towards it. It is peaceful for me to be near a quiet body of water like this. Clearing my mind, I look up at the trees that surround the cabin and lake and spot a shed near the treeline. I notice the flickering fireflies and the full moon hanging out in the clear sky. I don’t remember the last time I tried to search for the Big Dipper, but I found it quickly. We hardly get to see the sky like this back home. Being out here makes me appreciate the beauty that is hidden from us by the fumes of the city. Finally at the dock, I shimmy my shoes off and settle at the edge of it with my feet skimming the water.
Lost in my thoughts, I can only hear the sound of music from the cabin and stare at the shimmering lake. My body tenses when someone sits down next to me. Aaron’s leg touches mine and he’s looking out on the water. We both can’t keep our eyes off the reflection of the moon as we sitin comfortable silence.
“My favorite place in the world is out here. It’s so peaceful and quiet. Away from all the bullshit and fake ass people back home,” he says quietly. Turning my head to study his profile, I admire his blue eyes that seem brighter and his lazy smile that adds to his gorgeous face. The breeze blows through his dirty blonde hair, making it look like the strands are dancing to the beat of the music. It puts me at ease to see his body language is relaxed.
“I can understand why this is your favorite place,” I say, turning to look at the water again before he catches me awkwardly staring. Now it was his turn to stare at my profile, causing heat to rise up to my hairline.
“I’m going to own a place like this one day. Somewhere beautiful, peaceful, and calls to my soul,” I say without looking at him.
“You’re different, Ry.” He lets out a low chuckle, making me giggle.
“What do you mean?” I ask him, turning to catch his eyes, but Aaron is already gazing into mine.
“I mean you’re not like any other girl I’ve ever met. You hold your own and you’re down for whatever. You’re also fun to fuck, if I say so myself,” he says with a grin spread across his pretty face. A little speechless, I scoff at his confession. He grabs my chin, forcing me to listen to the next words. His face is only inches from mine.
“More than that, you don’t care about what guys can do for you and you sure as hell don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks about you. I really fucking like you, Ry. I want to see where things go between us,” Aaron whispers into my mouth.
Aaron and I have always hooked up for fun, I would have never guessed his feelings ran deeper than that. Still holding eye contact, I felt the moment his lips were ready to collide with mine. Before he could get the chance, I shove him into the warm water.
Bursting out into a fit of laughter, I wait for Aaron to emerge. Breaking through the surface, he glares at me.
“What the fuck, Ry?!” he hollers as I laugh harder.Eventually, Aaron can’t help but laugh, too. The guilt reaches me so I hold out my hand.
“Okay, I'm sorry. I couldn't resist the opportunity.” I smile at him sweetly. Swimming toward me, he reaches for my outstretched hand.
“Sure you couldn’t,” he says, unconvinced. I feel a strong tug of my arm and without anything to grab onto, I flail into the water. I kick my legs, swimming up to the surface to find Aaron’s huge smile. I shake my head.
“You asshole,” I murmur, wiping a hand down my face. He splashes me and I accept it with a fit of giggles.
“Yo! I know you jerks aren’t swimming without me!” Blaze shouts from the patio. Aaron and I stop splashing to look up and see Blaze on a full sprint toward us. He’s stripping his clothes off while running, then pushes off the dock to cannonball into the water, causing a massive splash.
Once his head pops up, he playfully narrows his eyes at me.“Did you think you could get away without me?” he asks.
“Actually, I thought I could get away from the both of you.” I retort while swinging both arms, splashing both of them. Mumbles of “Yeah, right!” and “You wish!” came from both of them as I tried to swim away before they chased after me in the water.
After an hour of goofing around in the lake, we were spent. We walked back toward the cabin dripping wet without a care. Aaron offers his room for all three of us to stay in since he had a California king sized bed. After throwing our clothes in the dryer, we crawl into bed wearing Aaron’s pajamas. Layla is on my mind as I lie in between my two guys, wondering what she’s doing. Thethoughts of my step-sister’s beautiful green eyes and sexy moans are on my mind when I doze off to sleep.
Waking up in a sweat, I sit up to realize it’s the middle of the night. Knowing I will not be able to go back to sleep, I quietly groan and throw myself back on the pillow. A mischievous lightbulb goes on in my head.
Slightly leaning over Blaze, I shake him lightly.
“Wake up,” I whisper close to his ear. Blaze doesn't move a muscle.
“Blaze!” I whisper-shout, giving him a harder shove.
“What is it? What's going on?” he groans, blinking the sleep from his eyes.
“Let's have some fun!” I say with a flirty smile on my face.
“Ry. It’s three in the fucking morning,” he responds with an eye roll and a whine. Blaze rolls back over to his side and almost instantly falls back asleep. I crawl over him, straddling his hips, and give him a quick hump before getting out of bed. His hand juts out to grab my wrist, pulling me back toward him. The small grin on his face tells me he’s too sleepy to get up, but awake enough to mess around. I tug back, making him lazily sit up on the edge of the bed.
