Page 84 of His Last Chase

“Why don’t you boys go play in Chase’s playroom while the Daddies clean up the kitchen?” Daddy said and we ran down the hall giggling all the way to my new room.

I ran across the floor and dove into my big fluffy bear cave. “I’m gonna marry my Daddy.”

“You are? When?” Jamie asked.

“I don’t know when, but I know where.”

“Where?” Henry asked as they joined me in my cave.

“Disneyland!”

After everybody left, I played in my room while Daddy did some of our laundry.

I was building cool stuff with my blocks when he came in. “Look, Daddy, look!” I clapped my hands at the tall building I’d made with my new blocks.

“You are such a good boy, Little Songbird.” He crawled across the floor and sat beside me, and I curled up in his lap and yawned. “My sweet, sleepy boy. Let’s get you tucked in. Which bear do you want to sleep with?”

“Lucky, but can you put his Spidey shirt on, so he matches my PJs?”

“I absolutely can.” I watched as Daddy got Lucky ready then handed him to me. “Now, let’s go get Daddy’s Songbird ready.”

I made kissy faces at Daddy so he leaned over and kissed me.

“I love you, Daddy.”

“I love you, too, my little songbird.”

“Daddy’s little songbird, Daddy’s little songbird,” I sang as I skipped into our bedroom.

Daddy took my shirt and shorts off. “Songbird, were you serious when you said you were gonna marry Daddy?”

“Yup.”

“And when did you want to do that?”

“When you ask me.”

“Cheeky Songbird,” Daddy tsked. “May I ask where this wedding will take place?”

“Disneyland!” I threw my hands in the air and cheered.

“Lord, help us all.”

Curious about what’s going on with Sikes and Snipe?
