Page 20 of Yule Love Me

Promise runs up to me and wraps her arms around me. “I’m so excited! You’re having a baby!”

I laugh at her. “I think I know that!”

“I can’t wait until our little ones grow up together. Maybe you’ll have a boy and I’ll have a girl and they’ll grow up and fall in love and we’ll really be family.”

I smile gently at her. “Wearefamily. Forever and ever. You’re never going to get rid of me!”

Tears glisten in her eyes and I hug her tighter. Jeremy steps away so that we can have our moment.

Promise has forgiven him and I now run my own article in the paper and it’s super-popular.

But as Promise and I chat about how things are going in our lives, my eyes stray to Jeremy’s bulky figure as he chats with some of our other guests, including his brother who came from out of town. He’s now got a bunch of stuff going on in his own life and I can’t wait to hear all about it and the girl at his side.

But for now…I can’t get enough of the love in this room. The love that surrounds us. Love that I never thought I’d find.

Love that is more than I’ve ever hoped for. The love of the man of my dreams.

I rest my hand on my belly as I talk to Promise, my mind a million miles away. Happily thinking about my little one and wondering what they’ll be like.

Will they be friends for life with Promise’s kids? Or will they all fall in love and get married like she hopes.

I don’t honestly know. But I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us! I’m sure it’s gonna be wild ride but I’m also sure that they’ll love me just like I love them.

Later that night, Jeremy holds me tight, the sweat drying on our skin as we pant, our heartbeats coming back to normal.

“I love you,” Jeremy says, caressing my back gently. I shiver at his touch.

“I love you too, Jeremy.”

I close my eyes and lean my forehead on his chest, hearing his heartbeat under my ear, strong and steady.

I can’t believe that I’ve got it all right now. A man I love more than anything on this earth and our first baby on the way.

I smile and let myself drift off to sleep, lulled by the steady rhythm of a heartbeat that matches my own, synced by our love for the rest of our lives.

Epilogue Two: Jeremy

Snow crystals glisten in the air around us as I watch my own Christmas angel step lightly towards me down the red velvet aisle. She’s wearing a soft white velvet gown and there’s a white fur shawl wrapped around her throat. Crystal and pearl dangle earrings dance from her perfect ears and she’s carrying a gorgeous bouquet of red and white roses and greenery. Crystal and silver stalks are spread throughout the bouquet.

When she reaches me, she hands her flowers off to Promise and I take her gloved hands. In the front row, her mother is holding her little grandson in her arms and Cody is cooing while he waves his arms around wildly.

He’s got Pet’s silvery blonde curls and my gray eyes and he’s a sweetheart. The perfect little boy.

But with a mama like Pet he couldn’t be anything but.

Her soft sapphire eyes smile at me as the minister starts to read our vows. I lift her fingers to my lips and then gently start to remove her white gloves.

“Do you have the rings?” He asks and I pull out a plain platinum band and slip it on her delicate finger. I kiss it and then hand her my plain platinum band.

She slips it on as the minister reads out the familiar words.

“Let no man put asunder.” He says and then he nods. “You may now kiss your bride.”

I barely let him finish the sentence before I gently tip her chin up. “I love you so much, Pet. We were meant to be together. Forever.”

I kiss her gently, my tongue slipping along the curve of her lower lip until she opens for me and then my tongue slips inside her mouth, tangling with her own as I wrap my arms around her and dip her gently.

The crowd cheers and then I lift her back up to her feet, flushed and rumpled and more adorable than she’s ever looked.
