"I wish things had happened differently," she said.

"What do you mean?" I enclosed her hand in mine.

"The party. If only we had met differently and under different circumstances..."

She looked up at the ceiling with a nostalgic look.

"Hey, that doesn't matter now," I said. "It matters what happens in the present and what will happen in the future. Don't let the past keep haunting you, or you’ll never get past it."

She nodded, and her face lit up.

"I know what to do to make you change that mood," I told her.

She raised an eyebrow and watched me closely as I stood up from the chair.

"What are you doing?" she looked around as if expecting something to happen. "What are you planning?"

I put one of my hands behind my back and gave a little bow. "Would you dance with me?"

She stood up, and I led her to the center of the venue, where there was a small dance floor.

"I don't know how to dance," she murmured.

"I'll teach you," I answered, smiling excitedly.

"I'm embarrassed," she replied, fixing her dress.

The music was soft, an instrumental waltz where the violin took center stage.

"No one will see you," I said, pointing to the empty tables around us. "It's just you and me. Just close your eyes and let me guide you."

She wrapped her arms around me and closed her eyes. I took her by the hips and began to sway back and forth with her to get her to relax. Her legs were shaking, and she was very stiff.

"Come closer," I asked her.

She hugged me and leaned her face against my chest. Her breathing was ragged, as was my heartbeat.

We danced, letting the music guide our steps while my mind was lost in Cathy, the woman who was meant for me.

After dancing and finishing dinner, I thanked Giovanni and his team for the meal and headed to my car with Cathy clinging to my arm. I opened the door for her and drove home feeling like the luckiest man in the world.

"Thank you for dinner. I enjoyed it very much," she told me.

"I enjoyed it too, and I hope it won't be the last," I told her sincerely.

We arrived at the house, and it was quiet. My mother was sleeping, and the rest of the staff was at their workstations.

"Then I guess I'll go to my room," she said.

She looked down, the corners of her lips were tense, and I could tell she didn't want to say goodbye.

I lifted her head and, without thinking, kissed her. She put her arms around me, stood on tiptoe, and kissed me back.

I took her by the waist and guided her to my room, made sure to lock the door, and undressed her between kisses. I laid her down on the bed, and as I kissed her belly, I took off my clothes.

We were completely naked. Her body and mine desired each other, and now that we were here, I couldn't think of anything else but her.

I laid on top of her and started kissing her neck. She moaned and tensed.
