I dropped to my elbows, all my strength gone as I tried to regain my breath. I couldn't speak yet, but I peppered Alec’s face, jaw, and throat with soft kisses, giving us both a chance to regain our senses. Alec wrapped his arms around my neck and pulled me down on top of him. I didn’t want to crush him, but he held on, so I cradled him in return.
As the moments passed, my cock softened. I caught the condom before slipping out of him, then quickly disposed of it in the wastebasket next to the bed. Alec’s embrace hadn’t loosened, so I rolled us onto our sides. We cuddled for a while, sharing lazy kisses and caresses.
I didn’t want to break our bubble, but needed to check in on my boy. “How are you doing?”
“You can’t tell?”
At first, I thought his feelings were hurt, then realized he was teasing me when he broke into a smile.
“Brat.” I pinched his ass, which elicited a startled squeak. “If you’re going to be my boy, you’ll need to get used to me always making sure you’re doing okay.”
Alec tensed, his eyes widening. “Are you being serious?”
I wanted to kick my own ass. Of course, he’d still be unsure. He didn’t know the thoughts in my head any more than I knew his. I’d been prodding him to share everything, yet hadn’t been as forthcoming. I knew what I wanted. That didn’t mean he did.
“Very.” I brushed my thumb back and forth across his cheek. “If you want a new contract, you’ve got it.”
“Oh. Just the contract?” His voice was shaky, and I hated how stressed out he sounded.
“I could easily overwhelm you with all the thoughts going through my head. When I first saw you last night, I was ready to be angry with you.”
He winced. “I wouldn’t blame you.”
“But that’s not how I truly feel. Any anger I had over what happened between us was more about how sad I was, how much it devastated me to lose someone I was falling in love with.”
Alec’s eyes glimmered. “I can’t believe I’m hearing this—I hadn’tdared hope.” His bottom lip trembled. “I was sure I’d make a complete ass of myself when we spoke, and when you agreed to meet me tonight…” He hiccupped on a sob. “I figured we’d have to start at the beginning if we ever started at all.”
“Oh, baby.”
I squeezed him, rubbing his back as I whispered soothing words. After a few minutes passed, he’d relaxed in my hold, and I stole a kiss. God, these kisses. Such a stark contrast to our last time together. I’d always believed that when I kissed him, it was what chased him away, that it was too intimate of an act to share with a man. But this time, I was sure the kisses were making him stay.
Alec pulled back and cupped my cheek. “Does this mean I can get my overnight bag from the car?”
I barked out a laugh, releasing some of the emotion that had been growing since his arrival. “If it were left to me, you’d be bringing in much more than an overnight bag. But—” I placed a finger over his lips. “We’ll take our time. We’ll move at your pace.”
He pressed his lips together, then gave a slight nod. “Okay, but I hope you don’t mind if I keep saying how much I love you.”
I was sure he was serious, but it didn’t mean all my fears were banished. Yet, deep within me, I believed in our connection, and that this time, it would carry us through whatever came our way.
I scooted down so we were nose to nose. “I’ll never tire of hearing you say that.”
Alec smiled. “Can we go to the club tomorrow night?”
I arched my eyebrows. “If you only want to play, we can do that here.”
He traced the edges of my jaw with one finger. “I want everyone to know we’re together, that you’re mine.”
Alec was full of surprises.
“I’d like that.” I smiled back. “But youdorealize I’ll be letting everyone know that you’re mine, too.”
He grinned. “I’m counting on it.”
