“She took the bullet for me.” West says his voice is weaker.
Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. Ripping open her shirt my gaze falls to the single shot to her chest in the center of her ribcage. Balling up the fabric I scream at G to put a rush on it. The color starts to seep from both of their faces.
“Wake up Ally.” I pry tapping her face with my other hand.
A moan slips from her mouth.
“That’s it girl come on.” Another slap.
“She saved me, Rye.” West's eyes meet mine.
How the hell did we get here?
Chapter Thirty-Seven
KENNA
Cop cars swarm the parking lot of the prison, the flashing blue lights blinding in the setting sun. My door is open before Cole has a chance to put that bitch in park. My feet hit the ground as soon as my seatbelt is removed. Running towards one of the cops my voice is shaky.
“What’s going on here?” I rush out.
The male cop turns to face me with an annoyed look crossing his face until he sees the man walking up behind me. The man has a thick black mustache over his top lip with deep sea blue eyes that look over both of us before choosing his next words.
“We were called out for a riot but we’re on the tail end of things.” He rubs at the long baton on his hip.
He watches me like I’m a fucking threat which sets me on edge and pisses me off at the same time.
“Why aren't your men inside yet?” I snap.
Moving closer I stop barely a foot away. The fire in my eyes may not be enough to get answers from him but I’ll kill the fucker if he doesn’t speak faster.
Running a hand down his face he looks to Cole as if to say control your woman. Pressing my chest into his I tip my head back with a feral look blanketing my face.
“I asked the question so look at me. Why are you lazy fuckers just standing here?” I spit.
Looking over his shoulder at the large group of probably twenty men he says, “By the time we got the call and made it here it was over. Now we’re just waiting for all the inmates to be put back in their cells before we can comb the open areas.”
He doesn’t seem worried about the prison inmates at all.
“Who’s hurt?” I probe.
Looking around the parking lot there are several EMT vans yet none have their lights on sending a shiver through me.
“Anyone inside that building that needs a bus, isn’t breathing.” He finally says.
“How many?” Cole is the next one to speak his tone filled with irritation.
The dick bag cop straightens his stance under the watchful eye of a Stone brother.
“Ten.” He sighs. “Look, I’ll report back what I can but for now that’s all I know. I have to get back to my men so we can move forward.”
With that he walks away. Dropping to my knees the asphalt digs into my skin. A scream bubbles out of me releasing from my throat when my head falls back. Somewhere in a dark corner of my heart I can feel that my fathers gone. She wouldn’t have planned this if she didn’t know she could pull it off. She had someone on the inside stage this to get to him all because of me. Her obsession with my family has cost me both parents. The organ in my chest pinches at the utter loss I feel in my soul.
“Come on, Kens.” Cole whispers against my hair.
His thick arm curls around my waist dragging me into his chest. Walking backward towards the car several cops turn to watch the show. Low whispers and comments spark up turning into a low buzz that I try to tune out. Lifting me into the truckCole rushes around the other side sliding into his seat. Turning to face me his fingers pinch my chin forcing my eyes to meet his.
“I can see where your thoughts are but we don’t know anything for sure, Princess.” He rubs his lips together looking out towards the parking lot. “We don’t know anything.” He says more to himself.
