“I should have killed them, Katie. You shouldn’t have stopped me.”

She swallows hard and nods.

I grab her and pick her up, holding her in my arms as I take her to the bedroom.

I place her down on the floor, on her knees.

I touch under chin, making her look up at me.

“I’ve hurt people, darling. I’ve killed people, darling. Do you understand that?”

“Yes,” she whispers.

“Don’t ever stop me again.”

I know what she wants to say right now. She wants to say she was saving me from myself. That she didn’t want me to end up in prison again. That’s her being greedy due to her love for me.Because that’s what love does to a person. It makes them greedy. It makes them stupid.

“Ever,” I whisper.

I swing my right hand—no true choice in the matter here—and I feel my hand connect with her face. Her head snaps to the side but she doesn’t make a sound. She’s a good girl.

My Katie girl looks up at me, blinking through tears.

“I understand,” she says.

“Good. Now crawl to your cage so you can get some sleep.”

My Katie girl doesn’t hesitate. She turns and crawls.

The towel hugs the curve of her ass in a way…

I growl and reach down and grab the towel, forcing it away from her body.

I now watch her crawl naked across my bedroom floor.

Her perfect ass in the air. The sweet, tempting look of her cunt. The soft folds of her labia, all bunched up, making me lick my lips.

My Katie girl crawls into her cage.

I shut the door, engage the lock, and then go into the kitchen to pour myself a glass of whiskey.

I myself need a minute or so here to think.

In prison, everything is planned out. Day by day. Hour by hour.

Freedom can drive a person insane, that’s for sure.

I have enough heroin in the garage downstairs that I’ll be put away for life without question and without a chance at parole.

Mutt can’t handle life on his own, even if he had to do some time literally by himself. But what happened there? He let a guy like Axel come right on through and use our family garage as a place to sort his heroin.

I really should kill Axel.

Toss him into the trunk of a car and dump the car somewhere where it’ll be found in years. By then it’ll just be bones in the trunk.

If I do that, then what?

Then I become the top guy.
