Something told me that Mihai was rarely ‘not busy’, but I would try my best to get him to meet my friends at some point.

She seemed to be weighing my words when she finally smiled. “Congratulations then.”

I laughed. “I’ve graduated from being a third wheel.”

She stood and gave me a hug, before mock sniffling. “What will we do, without you rolling along behind us?”

“Have a proper date for once, maybe,” I joked, as she pulled away. “Which leads me to the other thing, I may have to take some time off to get everything together. I’ll send the menu, and show Hannah how to make them, but I won’t be able to film for probably a month for our channel or come by the kitchen too often.”

“No problem, Noah and I were thinking of taking a break anyway. Especially since we got that email from Netflix, regarding doing a show about cooking,” she said, with a spark in her eyes.

“Are you serious?” I demanded, surprised.

“Yep,” she said. “They liked the pitch about the understated restaurants in big cities so you’re looking at your next star chef.”

Together we celebrated by shouting and hugging, once done I gave her one more congratulations before heading out. I knew Sophie had always had her eyes on the idea of doing an official show, but getting aninto that, depended on who you know, and timing.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, absentmindedly I pulled it out and saw that it was the Hotel I was working with. “Hello?”

“Ms. Roux, Hi it’s Tildon. I wanted to know if you had time to come by today, so we could discuss the design you sent us?”

I pulled my phone from my ear and checked the time, before replacing it. “Sure, I have about an hour or two to spare. I’m coming from downtown, it might take me around 30?—”

A rough hand grabbed me from behind, and I barely had time to scream when something wet was pressed over my mouth and everything went black.

Mihai

“Mr. Feraldi is here to see you, Sir,” Nao said as he entered my office.

I didn’t bother to look at him. “What does he want?”

“He was interested to know, if you still have intentions of working with P.Oil or should he take your ending talks of marriage with his family, as the same opinion you have on investing in his company.”

“Send him in,” I said after thinking it over. P.Oil was the company that handled the Uranium mines that the Feraldi family owned, and taking into account my father’s desire for them I could at least meet with the man.

Nao gave me a nod, before leaving my office. I got up and walked around my desk, taking a seat at the sitting area that was to the corner of my office. It wasn’t long before Dimarco Feraldi made his entrance, he was like my father having kept his dark looks and fitness.

“Mihai, it’s been too long,” he said as he approached me.

But I didn’t bother with pleasantries, and only nodded at him. “Yes, it’s been a long time. Nao, explained to me that you are concerned about Linton’s interest in P.Oil. As far as we are concerned, we have every intention of maintaining our investment in your company. Though if the cancellation of our prior arrangement has changed your desire to work with us, we are willing and able to pull our investment out.”

“No, that’s not necessary,” he said as he took his seat. “I can understand that things change. Not everything in our personal lives should affect our business.”

I offered him a cold smile. “I’m glad that you think that way.”

I decided to offer him a refreshment before I kicked him out, only to have my plans cut short when Nao abruptly reentered my office. Coming over to my side he leaned down and whispered something in my ear. Immediately I lost all humor and stood up.

“Mr. Feraldi, you’ll have to excuse me. Something urgent has come up. I’ll have Nao escort you out.”

With that, I left my office immediately meeting with Lin outside. “How long ago was it?”

“They grabbed her ten minutes ago, we have eyes following them.”

I nodded. “Have you looked into who they are yet?”

“We’ve got Armstrong checking into it. He said it won’t take him long, but he wanted to know how you wanted to go about dealing with them?” Lin asked, as we got on the elevator.

“Right now, her safety is top priority. Tell him to send the men in to get her, and if the kidnappers are difficult tell them to injure them not kill.” That way, I wouldn’t have to show my cruel side to her.
