Then the weekend had come and V snagged me, along with Lissa and Lulu, to do some painting at Bull’s house. Apparently, he’d bought a big, old house long before meeting V and it needed renovation. He and V had decided to move in together once it was done. While the Desert Rebels’ construction crew had handled the repairs, which had included replacing the windows and floors, the four of us girls had painted the inside walls and doors.

We’d managed to make it fun. Classic rock was playing on Lulu’s phone and she’d turned the volume up as loud as it would go, the music echoing through the empty house. It was a wonder we got anything done, because half the time we were dancing and cutting up, and drinking margaritas and sangria. Lissa had brought the ingredients to make them, while V and I had brought food for lunch. Lulu, not wanting to feel left out, had brought the best, ooey gooey brownies I’d ever tasted. They were loaded with walnuts and covered in a decadent homemade frosting.

“You’re a woman of many talents,” I joked after swallowing that first bite. Lulu had turned the music off, and I could hear the slight echo of my voice in the large kitchen.

“Oh, my God, these are good!” Lissa gushed.

The noises coming from V made us all look her way. She paused with a brownie halfway to her mouth, but there were signs that she’d already had a bite. “What?” she asked innocently.

Lulu snorted. “You sound like a woman having sex.”

“Good sex!” V laughed. “I can’t help it. These are the best brownies I’ve ever eaten.”

We all agreed with that, and for the next few minutes devoured them like greedy pigs. We’d saved them as a treat for the end of the day, but looking around the kitchen now, it was clear that we still had more work to do. The counter was cluttered with the leftover spread we’d put out for lunch, and all kinds of paper plates and plastic utensils were scattered about.

“I hope someone brought plastic bags for all this trash,” I said.

“I brought one big one,” V responded, wiping the chocolate off her mouth.

I gave her a thumbs up. “I don’t know about you ladies, but I feel like I’ve had a workout this weekend.”

“Definitely!” Lissa quipped. “I ache in places I didn’t know I had.”

V chimed in, “Well, climbing up and down a ladder is exercise.”

“Sex is the best exercise I know,” Lulu said, gaining a laugh from everyone but me.

I looked toward the floor and sighed miserably. “If you’re having it.” The room got deathly quiet, and I raised my eyes. “Did I say that out loud?”

V nodded vigorously while Lissa and Lulu just smiled.

“Oh.”

V placed her hand over mine. “He’ll be home soon, honey. I doubt he’ll miss the wedding.”

“Sax went with him, and I know he won’t want to miss the wedding,” Lulu added. “Guess where they’re going on their honeymoon.”

“Italy.”

“Greece.”

“Hawaii.”

Lulu shook her head at all three guesses. “Ireland!”

“Do you think they’d mind if we tagged along?” Lissa joked.

As laughter filled the kitchen, I felt my phone vibrate. I dug it out of my back pocket, elation rushing through me when I saw that Loco had sent me a text.

on my way home babe, get your pussy ready 4 me

Instant heat infused me, and I was excited and turned on all at once. I smiled from ear-to-ear as I sent him a brief text back.

my pussy is always wet & ready 4 u

“What put that blush on your cheeks?” V asked curiously. “Are you having a hot flash?”
