She snorted loudly. “What rules? And you can’t change the rules without my consent!”

“Watch me!”

I opened my door and kicked it shut behind me, throwing Lulu down on the bed. She bounced a few times, giving me a glimpse of the red lace covering her pussy when her short skirt flew up. Her hair had come undone and was hanging in her face like a soft cloud. She brushed it away, red-faced, and glowered up at me.

“What is your fucking problem, Brody?” She didn’t even make an attempt to push her skirt back into place. “You lied to me! You said you were out of town! Have you been hiding out here the whole time?”

I didn’t owe her an explanation, but I gave her one anyway. “I was out of town when you texted me, and I didn’t want you to know I was here.”

“Why? You don’t trust me?”

I frowned and snapped out the truth. “I don’t trust anyone, Hellcat, and the less you know, the safer you are.”

“Pff!”

I liked the fire in her eyes. The fight in her turned my dick hard. My eyes ate her, and that cute little ensemble she was wearing, up. She was the sexiest little bit of trouble I’d ever seen, and seeing her on Doc’s lap, locking lips with him, had unhinged me. Jealousy like I’d never felt before had exploded like toxins in my blood, demanding that I do something about it.

I didn’t want Cherry or any other woman, and if Lulu was on a date that was tough shit. As of tonight, she was mine, and only mine, at least until this thing between us ran its course. I was going to make that fucking clear.

I had to have her. I reached for the edge of my shirt and pulled it up my torso and over my head, tossing it to a chair.

“What are you doing?” She licked her lips, letting her gaze glide down my body.

“What does it look like I’m doing? We have an agreement, and I’m going to fuck you.” I winced at how that had come, but a good, hard fuck was just what we both needed.

“I thought you wanted to talk about new rules.”

“We’ll get to it.”

“I’m not fucking you in a bed where you’ve fucked Cherry!” She started to wiggle off the bed.

“I haven’t fucked Cherry in this bed.”

She hesitated. “Mitzi, then.”

I shook my head. “Haven’t fucked Mitzi either.” I started to undo my pants. “Nor Cassey, nor Lorna.”

An unladylike snort escaped her. “You expect me to believe that?”

I paused from taking my pants off, curious to know what Lulu was thinking. “What does it matter anyway, Hellcat? You keep reminding me that we’re free to fuck other people.”

She glanced away, but not fast enough. I saw the vulnerability in her eyes. It mattered to her, only she was too fucking stubborn to admit it. It occurred to me that the same could be said about me. I’d realized a long time ago that hating her was the same as loving her. I stared at her for a minute before sitting on the bed next to her.

She raised her wet eyes to mine.

Shit.

“I can’t do this, Brody.” In spite of the tears in her eyes, there was strength in her tone. “I’m used to sharing the men in my life, but with you it’s different. I don’t want to share you. This back and forth between us, the teasing and fighting, I like it, but pretending it’s okay if we fuck other people…” She shook her head with regret, and then pulled herself together. “I’m not that strong. I’ve conditioned myself not to develop feelings for people for survival, but now that I’m free, staying detached is harder than I thought.” She ended with a forced laugh.

At first, I’d thought she was going to give me an ultimatum. But if Lulu could be truthful with me, I owed it to her to do the same. I released a loud breath and pinched the bridge of my nose, wondering where to start, knowing that this was going to change everything.

She patted my thigh as if to reassure me. “It’s okay, Brody. It’s my problem, not yours. You were very clear about what you expected from me. Who knew I’d reached an age where I want to be more than just a convenient booty call?”

When a few seconds passed and nothing more was said, I glanced up into her eyes. “You done?”

She nodded.

“Good.”
