“Good looking woman. Too bad I’m not in the market,” Doc said, right before he took a bite of his hamburger.

“Actually, she was gorgeous.” Lulu’s comment made me narrow my eyes on her. There was something missing in her smile. “What man in his right mind would give up someone like her.” She popped a French fry into her mouth.

I grinned at her roundabout way of trying to get information out of me. “Maybe I prefer hellcats over pussycats.” She gave me a disbelieving smirk. “If you ask me, I’ve traded up.”

That response gave her smile theumphit had lacked a minute ago. She picked up her hamburger and took a big bite out of it. I did the same. A quick look revealed that Doc was already halfway done with his.

As we ate, Lana’s loud laughter carried to our table more than once, and was meant to draw my attention to her, but I ignored it.

I had what I wanted sitting right there in front of me.

Chapter 28

Lulu

“We need to talk about it?” Brody’s tone was laced with mild irritation, as if he hadn’t wanted to ask, but felt that he should.

We’d just gotten back to the clubhouse after leaving the Hamburger Pit and were still sitting on his bike. “Talk about what?” I asked, even though I knew what he was asking. On the ride back I’d had a chance to think about the woman who’d approached Brody in the restaurant and what she’d been only too eager to get across to me.

“Lana,” he specified harshly.

I shrugged, my arms still wrapped around him. “There’s nothing to talk about. She made it clear what she was to you.”

He took a breath. “’Was’being the key word.”

I smiled against his back. “I admit that when I realized who she was I may have been a little jealous. I mean, the woman is stunning. If you could give someone like her up…”

I felt him go rigid. He didn’t like what I was saying but I continued anyway. “It’s natural that I’d have insecurities, Brody. Lana clearly is educated and has class—”

“Don’t!” he growled. “Don’t fucking go there.” It sounded as if he were snarling the words through clenched teeth. “Lana has nothing on you. And she meant nothing to me except that she was a convenient booty call while I was in town. That stopped before I touched you for the first time.”

He tapped my leg, and I knew that he wanted me to get off. Using his shoulder for support, I brought my leg around. I thought he was going to get off, too, but once my feet were on the ground, he pulled me up onto his lap until I was straddling him. It was dark, but I could see the glitter of his eyes enough to meet them.

“Why the fuck aren’t you wearing a helmet?” His fingers began to run through my hair, gently working out the snarls. “We have to get better at that.”

“I forgot.” I hadn’t really. I liked getting as close to Brody as I could when we were riding, and not wearing a helmet allowed me to do that. Plus, I liked the feel of the wind through my hair. “And don’t change the subject.”

His fingers halted for a minute, and then he sighed.

“Look, Brody,” I began before he had a chance to say anything, “I have no right to feel jealous or anything else about the women in your past, and youknowabout my history. It’s the present and future that matter.”

“I’m glad you feel that way, baby. And just for the record, you take my fucking breath away. You’re the most beautiful woman I know. I thought so the first second I laid eyes on you, and I’ve wanted you ever since. At first I thought all I wanted was to fuck you, but once I had you, I wasn’t satisfied with once. I wanted more. You’re smart and funny and sweet.”

He leaned in and continued the words against my lips. “You’re brave, and caring, and a pain in my ass.” Our lips connected briefly. “You’re the light to my darkness, Hellcat. Your smile makes everything right in my fucking world.”

He wound my hair around his hand and jerked my head back slightly, taking my mouth with a rough passion that dragged a moan of pleasure up my throat. I loved Brody’s kisses, loved his masterful mouth grinding on mine while he asserted his dominance. His tongue curled around mine, causing a flutter of arousal in my core. I found myself scooting my lower body closer to him, needing the heat and contact between his thighs. I wrapped my arms around his neck and savored the texture and flavor of his mouth against mine.

“Get a fucking room!” someone laughed as they walked past where we were parked in the dark. It sounded like Loco, and I wondered if he could see who we were or just our dark silhouettes.

By the time Brody pulled away, we were both breathing heavily. I smiled, feeling his hard-on throbbing strongly up against my pussy. My body had come to life, too. I could feel the wetness between my legs, and moaned loudly when his hand roamed up to my breast.

“Come on, babe, I need to fuck you.” His tone was hoarse, and he made a move that indicated he wanted us to get off his bike.

“What’s wrong with right here?” I asked brazenly, rocking against him while nibbling on his chin. I felt my nipples turn hard against his palm. It was amazing how the pleasant tingle made a direct line down to my pulsing clit. The thought of him fucking me on his bike turned me hotter inside. I reached for the front of his pants.

“Fuck me, baby.” I breathed the words against his mouth. I worked frantically at getting his pants undone so I could get to my prize.

“Christ, you’re going to be the fucking death of me,” he rasped. I could feel his heart pounding hard against mine.
