The man was like a fucking dog with a bone. “Thinking about it. You’ll be the first to know if I do.”

“Get Lulu the fuck out of here.” Doc motioned to the door, where she stood watching from the other side. “We got this.”

Fuck. Our eyes connected, and I knew that she needed me. Her dazed, crestfallen expression told me that she was barely holding on. I could imagine the shit that must be going through her head. She’d just killed a man. My strong, beautiful woman wasn’t going to go through this alone. I took Doc up on his gift and went to her.

I opened the door and Lulu crashed into me, wrapping herself around me like a little spider monkey. The trembling had returned. I lifted her, and she curled her legs around my waist and buried her face against the side of my neck.

“Don’t let me go,” she murmured softly.

“Never, babe.” I meant it. She was mine. “Where’s your purse?” She pointed to the reception desk counter. “Do you need to take care of anything before we leave?”

She shook her head, but said, “Just lock up.”

With Lulu still clinging to me, I retrieved her purse and the keys lying next to it, and we headed outside. On the way to my bike, I handed the keys to Cole. “Can you lock up?”

He wordlessly took off toward the door as I continued to my bike. “Babe.” She tensed against me, as if she knew I’d been about to put her down. I thought about the ride. It was dangerous as hell riding with someone in front of you. The clubhouse wasn’t that close, but my house was just down the road. Decision made, I climbed on with her straddling my lap. “We’ll take this slow, yeah?”

She nodded.

I started my bike, and Cole ran over with the keys. The slight movement of Lulu’s head told me that she was looking up at him.

“You’ll be okay, sweetheart,” Cole said to her. He kissed her on the forehead.

She nodded. I took the keys from him and slipped them into my pocket. “Thanks again, man.”

He gave me a chin lift and turned to go back to the others.

I pulled out of the lot. Further down the road, we passed a van. Instinct told me that it was the cleanup crew. A glance in my side mirror showed them turning into the clinic, confirming my suspicions. The ride to my house didn’t take long, and during it I could feel the tension begin to ease up in Lulu’s body. By the time we arrived, her trembling had stopped.

I pulled into my driveway and parked. Lulu leaned away from me. I was glad to see the glaze that had been in her eyes earlier had cleared, and the light was back.

“I’m sorry for being such a baby,” she murmured quietly. “For some reason killing that man brought back memories of when my mother and sister were murdered.”

Shit, the trauma. That made fucking sense.

“I’m okay now.”

No she wasn’t, but she would be. I’d see to it. I ran my hands down the side of her face and leaned in to kiss her nose. “So are we going to spend the night on my bike? Seems like we’ve been in this position before,” I teased, wanting to see her smile again. It worked. It wasn’t a full-fledged smile, but the softening of her mouth warmed my heart. “Let’s go inside.”

Once inside, I lead Lulu to my bedroom. “Undress, baby. I’ll start a bath.”

I went into the bathroom and turned on the water to fill the Roman tub, making sure the temperature was good before scouting around for something I could add to it to make the water soothing for her. The only thing I found was Epsom salt. It was better than nothing, I guessed. By the time I returned to Lulu, she was naked. I stopped for a minute to take in the captivating view of her standing nude in the middle of my bedroom.

Jesus, fuck, she was perfection. Luscious tits, rounded ass, plump pussy. A goddess on Earth, and she was mine. I wanted to go to her and suck her rosy nipples until they were as firm as ripe berries, wanted to consume the creamy essence I knew was between her legs. My hands curled with the need to explore what I already knew like the back of my hand, until she was mindless and straining with hunger for my dick to fill her. I wanted to go to her and ravish her so that she would forget all about today, but all that would come later.

Her slight smirk revealed that she knew exactly what I was thinking.

“Get into the tub,” I ordered firmly, and I left the room.

I went to the kitchen, grabbed a glass and the bottle of Jack, and returned to the bedroom. Then I stripped and went to the bathroom. Lulu’s eyes were closed. She’d arranged her hair on top of her head, and she was relaxing back with her neck resting against the rim of the tub. She’d turned the water off and I grinned, realizing that the tub was going to overflow once I joined her. I didn’t give a fuck. Nothing was going to keep me from my woman and offering her comfort where I could. Before disturbing her, I poured a generous amount of whiskey in the glass and reached over her to place it on the built-in shelf.

Her slight gasp alerted me that she knew I was there. “What are you doing?”

I gave her a wolfish grin. “I’m joining you.”

Her welcoming smile, along with the fact that she scooted forward without being asked to, told me that she was open to that. I stepped in behind her and lowered my body, arranging my legs on either side of her. As I’d expected, water sloshed over the side. It was a tight fit, but that was the way I liked it.

“Oops,” she murmured as she settled back against me.
