He shook his head, but the grin was still on his face. “Look around. I’ll get the food.”
I didn’t need to walk around the house—standing in one place revealed the entire downstairs living area. I noticed right away that it had recently been updated and reconfigured. Older houses were chopped up into individual rooms, but he’d had the dividing walls removed and had turned the downstairs into one large, open space. I liked the layout. I could see the kitchen, the dining nook, and the huge living room area. It was a man’s domain, but tastefully furnished even if it was a little sparce.
There were two doors in the room, and I wondered where they led to. I walked to the first one, which opened into a good-sized bathroom with a walk-in shower. The second door led to a huge bedroom, which I assumed was Eagle’s because it looked like it was being used. I turned toward the stairs and was about to take that first step up when Eagle returned.
“Nothing to see up there,” he said, drawing my attention. He set the food in the refrigerator. “I live down here.” He sauntered toward me, and I couldn’t keep my eyes from lowering to where the front of his pants was undone. He’d zipped them up just enough to keep from being indecent.
He cleared his throat, and I raised my eyes to his. I ignored his smirk. If he didn’t want me licking my lips, he should have done them up all the way. “Do you plan to fix it up?”
“Yeah, in time.” He stopped in front of me, then reached up and tenderly tucked my hair behind my ear. “Love your hair, darlin’. Don’t ever cut it.”
I raised a brow at his audacity. I’d had long hair for as long as I could remember, and I had always considered it to be one of my best features. Johnny had liked it, too. But Eagle’s order that I never cut it gave me hope that I could have something long-lasting with him. Before I could weigh my words more carefully, I left myself open for hurt by asking, “Even after whatever this thing that’s going on between us is over?” I was aware too late that I’d pushed him into a corner.
His eyes narrowed on me. “And what do you think this ‘thing’ is between us?”
I gazed into his eyes, searching for the answer to the question he had asked. I knew what I wanted it to be, but men didn’t think the same way that women did. I swallowed, and decided to test him, preparing myself to be hurt. “Sex,” I replied simply, watching Eagle carefully.
The anger that flashed across his face warned me that he hadn’t liked my answer. “Babe, if you don’t know by now that I have feelings for you, you never will. If sex was all this was, you’d be on your way home right now.”
Instant relief spread over me. His admission that he had feelings for me gave me the confidence to open up to him. “I feel the same way, Eagle, but I was afraid to admit it to you. Especially with your track record,” I joked with a smile.
He released a heavy breath. “That’s fair. And that record is broken. It’s you I want in my life, baby. I don’t just take anyone to my aunts for dinner. I don’t just invite anyone in my home. And I sure as fuck don’t tell all the women I’ve been with to scream out my name when I’m fucking them.”
I winced, wondering how many women Eagle had been with. Something told me that it had been a lot, but I was thankful that he’d been careful with them.
His expression was serious when he admitted, “I sure as hell don’t fuck any woman bare unless I want to keep her in my life. Exclusively.”
I swallowed and tried to contain my excitement. “Good to know.” I paused, giving him a smile. “I think I need a shower.”.
“Yeah?” He yanked me against him and put his hands on my ass. “Is my cum leaking out of this gorgeous ass, baby?” He’d guessed correctly, and an evil grin spread across his face as he slowly lowered his face toward mine. “Makes me hot knowing my cum is inside you.”
I waited, anticipating his kiss. Wanting it. But he just stood there staring into my eyes, his gleaming with amusement as if he knew what I wanted. Well, if he wasn’t going to do it, I would. I closed the distance between us and kissed him. When he didn’t open his mouth for my tongue, I bit him. I waited for him to pull away, but instead he ground his mouth over mine and checked out my tonsils with his tongue.
As with anything else Eagle did, his kiss was full of passion, and it rapidly ignited my arousal for him. I moaned, letting him know what he was doing to me, but just when I brought my arms up around his neck to sink into the kiss, he pulled away.
“Let’s get a shower and go to bed.”
“But I’m not tired.” I was horny, that’s what I was.
Silence, and then, “Neither am I.”
Chapter 36
Leona
Waking up the next morning was difficult to do, and moving my body was even harder. I’d never been in a sex marathon, but what Eagle and I had done during the night had been that. Multiple orgasms, multiple fucks, using every body part, so much kissing and touching, exploring, and driving each other to the brink only to stop, cool down a little, and start back up again. Eagle’s stamina could have been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. Trying to keep up with him had taught me that my stamina was fueled by his.
We’d finally fallen into bed with total and complete exhaustion, sweaty, covered in sticky fluids that announced that we had claimed each other many times, barely able to breathe, our hearts racing like drums in our chests. Even my hair had been sticky and had clung to places on my body. My deliciously achy and satisfied body.
I turned my head to look at Eagle. It was all the energy I could muster right now. The peaceful expression on his sleeping face caused me to smile, and my heart swelled. The covers were pushed down around his hips, allowing me to gaze at his magnificent, God-like body. I didn’t want to disturb him, so I resisted the urge to reach out and tweak his nipple as he’d done to mine so many times during the night. Even soft, they were defined in his hard pecs.
I took an even breath, taking in the musky scent of sex that still lingered, and began to move slowly, inching my naked body out of his bed, surprised that I wasn’t glued to it. Even though the bed was king-sized and had plenty of room for both of us to spread out as we pleased, we’d spooned when we weren’t fucking. I wondered if he liked to cuddle.
Once I was out of the bed and Eagle still hadn’t moved, I reached for his shirt and slipped it over my head, breathing in deeply his scent that was clinging to it. Then I tiptoed from the room and went to the kitchen. Coffee. I needed coffee. The maker was on the counter, but I had to hunt around for the filter and the coffee, thankful to find that he had grounds instead of beans. Coffee grinders were very loud.
Unable to wait for the full pot to brew, I slipped my cup under the drip, replacing it with the pot once the cup was full. I added milk and then leaned against the counter to take that first sip. It needed sugar, but Eagle didn’t have any, and the coffee was still good without it. I yawned, took another sip, and enjoyed the quiet until a slight noise interrupted it, so faint that at first I thought I’d imagined it.
The sound had not come from the bedroom where Eagle still lay sleeping in bed. It had come from upstairs. I glanced up at the ceiling and listened for it again. There it was. So slight that I wondered if he might have mice up there. But the next sound was louder, and I decided that it might be a squirrel or possibly a raccoon. Eagle had said that the upstairs was unfinished, and that he only lived on the first floor. If he hadn’t been upstairs in a while, it would make sense that some critter had gotten in and made himself at home, especially with winter approaching.
