“Okay.I have to meet the guys later this morning. We have a job to finish up.Let’s go out to breakfast, and then we’ll part ways. How does that sound?”

“It sounds like a plan,” she agreed.

King gave her a hug.As they surrounded each other, he ran his fingers through her hair and kissed her neck “You’re so damned sexy,” he rasped.

“Thank you,” she said, blushing.“I could say the same thing about you.”Their eyes met.

King released a deep breath.“Let’s get ready and go.”

It didn’t take them long to get dressed, and then Mia followed King out to his truck. She hadn’t eaten in a long time and was suddenly starving.Their mini sex marathon had definitely been the equivalent of a strenuous workout and had consumed energy and burned up a lot of calories.

The restaurant King took them to was just down the street, a small house that had been converted into a restaurant, not unusual in Maine.King led her inside and they were seated right away.Mia felt a little awkward as she sat down at their table and saw the speculative looks she received by the other occupants as they greeted King enthusiastically.

“Would you like something to drink?”the server asked as they got settled.

“I’ll have coffee,” Mia said.“And could you please bring a glass of water?”

King held up two fingers to indicate for the server to bring two coffees and she left.He returned his attention to Mia.“Water? No bloody Mary?”he teased.

“I don’t drink this early in the day,” Mia smiled.“And I don’t like tomato juice.”

“What do you like?”His words were suggestive. The twinkle in his eyes revealed that he wasn’t talking about something as mundane as what she liked to drink.

“Water,” Mia laughed.

“What about beer?”

“I hate beer,” she shuddered.

“That’s a shame,” King replied.“There are so many great beers out there.”

“I’ve never been a fan.”

The server returned with two cups of coffee and a glass of water.

She was young enough to be King’s daughter, but that didn’t prevent her from settling her gaze on him in a flirty way.“Would you like anything to eat?”

King motioned for Mia to go first.“I’ll have the Belgian waffle and bacon,” she ordered.

“I’ll have the steak and eggs,” King said.

After the young woman left, King leaned across the table.“What was Sammy’s reaction when you told her you were still at my place?”

“She wasn’t surprised,” Mia responded.“I didn’t tell her what happened between us, but I think she’s smart enough to figure it out.”

“Are you going to tell her?”King reached for his coffee with a grin on his face.

“I’m sure she’ll figure it out,” Mia winked mischievously.“And you did text her last night.I’ve never gone home with a guy for a one-night stand. It just isn’t me.”

The expression on King’s face revealed that he didn’t like what Mia had just said. His eyes hardened.“Let’s clear something up right now, sugar. It wasn’t a one-night stand.”

“You’re just saying that because you want to get laid again,” she teased, trying to lighten his sudden change in mood.

“No,” King was quick to rebuke, his voice serious.“I mean it.I like you.And I intend to fuck you every chance I get.”

Mia quivered at his blunt words, her core clenching. She glanced around nervously, praying no one had heard, and licked her lips before facing him again.“I like you too.”

King nodded with satisfaction.“Good.Glad we could clear that up.The rest will take care of itself.”
