Levi’s serious expression eases, and his green eyes brighten with his relief. “Thanks. That’s great. But I have another question. When is this wedding? I don’t want you guys to have all the fun without me.”

Lucas wraps his arm around my waist and looks down at me. “She gets the say.”

Clunk. Clunk.My heart wobbles.

I smile as I touch his angular jaw, loving the feel of his scruff below my palm. “We’re a team now, right? We wait until everyone can be together.”

There’s a sigh from my lover. It dances over my skin, giving me warm fuzzies.

His face changes. Complete serenity takes over. He lifts me in his arms and whispers in my ear, “God, I love you.”

“I love you, too. Now put me down, you beast. You’re squeezing me too hard, and we’ve got a woman to find.”

“And a wedding to plan!” Nyx and Belle shout at the same time.

Epilogue

Twenty Four Hours Later

I suck at patience.

Well, that’s not exactly true. I have fucking tons of it when it comes to doing reconnaissance. Ample for waiting out bad guys. Loads of patience when we’re planning a mission.

Not when it comes to my woman.

When the sunlight catches on her hair, a sharp pang of longing slices through my chest. She glances my way and smiles, that little turn of her lips driving another nail into me.

After a beat, she shakes hands with the sheriff that’s helping on our cases. I left them to talk over notes about Ralph while I took care of other business.

As she starts toward me the skirt of her new blue sundress brushes the soft skin just below her knees. A place I’ve become incredibly fond of. Especially the way her breath catches and her nipples peak when I use my mouth on the spot just behind her knee.

I shift, praying that my erection doesn’t make an embarrassing tent in my cargo pants. That’s all I need right now.

My throat gets achingly dry when Camile steps in front of me and offers me a soft smile as my greeting. “Did you have any luck?”

God, I want to grab her and kiss every last inch of her. Instead, I clear my throat and pass her a cup of fresh mango juice that matches the one in my hand. “None of the vendors have seen her.”

Her smile slides off and a determined frown sets up shop as she glances around the open air market that lines both sides of the roadway. “The sheriff is going to send me a list of addresses on cars that match the description of the one you guys saw the other night. He said the letters that Scout got from the tag are fairly common here, but hopefully it’s enough to narrow it down.”

Sunlight catches on a strand of her hair, bringing out the golden tone in the deep red locks. My fingers twitch. It’s hard as hell to keep my hands off of her.

Instead I force one hand into my pocket to wrap around the metal that’s burning a hole into my leg. “Between the sheriff and Marshall’s gurus back stateside, I think we’ll have a hit.”

I catch her around the arm and pull her to me, unable to resist touching her any longer. It’s been forty-five minutes. Far too long.

As she takes a sip of juice she sighs and the smile returns. “This is really good. Thank you.”

“Let’s go for a walk.”

Her hand slides into my offered arm, hooking the inside of my elbow, driving a dizzying wave of possessiveness through me.

I’ve never felt this exact sensation. I’ve always been protective since I was a kid, but this is something much more dangerous.

I scan the crowd for any threats, because she’s mine to protect and I’ll do anything to keep her safe. Even if it’s daylight and we’re walking in a busy, friendly looking area as we walk toward the park on the next block.

“Where are you taking me?” Her eyes dance as she glances up at me. “More shopping? Not that I need anything else, but it was a treat to visit the vendors.”

“Sure. Later. First, I want you to see something.”
