Just how I need them.
Evan knows he’s chasing away all the bad memories.
Only him.
Only me.
I lose myself quickly. Something I’ve never felt before happens. A long wave of pleasure takes over, so ethereal…so intense that I swear I’m floating out of my body.
This doesn’t even classify as an orgasm. It’s far beyond that.
He stops thrusting and puts his hand on the place we’re joined. “Oh god. You’re soaking me, baby. Fuck yeah.”
Every raspy word he utters ratchets up the intensity of the sensations.
I’m floating there at the peak, deliriously panting one second, unable to breathe the next.
Heart palpating, my eyes fix on him as I lose all control.
Oh. Yes. Yes…YesYesYes.
My body begins to buck wildly, while he holds rigidly still. His hand tightening in my hair, his cock throbbing inside of me as I fall into the beautiful wild bliss.
Eyes wide open.
Heart wide open and his.
He follows me with a guttural howl, a jerk of his powerful body and a stream of filthy, loving praise that might make me blush later.
Much later.
Chapter Sixty-One
The next morning…
I lean over and kiss Marianna on the top of the head as the hotel elevator descends. We both knew our alone-time was limited until we would need to deal with the chaos—we just didn’t expect it to end so abruptly.
The last few hours have been tense.
Once again, I wish I had the right thing to say. But the call we got at three this morning was everything I dreaded, yet we both needed to hear.
Mayor Marcus Flora and Sylvester Strickler were arrested after Vik’s raid on the compound.
Sylvester confessed to putting a bomb on my truck to try to get rid of me because of his jealousy.
He also admitted that his car exploded because one of his own IEDs went off unexpectedly—there was no attack against him.
A garage full of contraband was seized at the compound which is seemingly related to the undercover mission Vik and his team were working on.
Many more arrests are happening thanks to Vandamora’s federal task force against crime getting involved. The bank president is going to be picked up this morning for laundering money and collusion with the police chief to allow robberies.
It’s a lot to process. Marianna’s life is changing by the second. Including her father going down for his involvement.
As we ride the frustratingly slow elevator, I ask a question that’s been bothering me.“Do you want to try to see your father before the feds move him to the city?”
She abruptly looks up at me, her resolve firmly in place. “No. I don’t want to see him. I’m not surprised he and Sylvester were up to something bigger. That was the entire motive behind my father trying to pressure me to marry that scumbag. I just didn’t know they were involved with an international crime ring. That part will take some time for me to process.”
With sadness filling her eyes, she looks at her reflection in the door. “I’ve spent my entire adult life wishing I never had to talk to my father again. I have even more conviction after finding out my mother was upset with him when she wrecked. I truly understand what it means to walk away and never look back. Marcus is never going to hurt me again.”
