"W-well then, your shit ain't efficient in that manner either," he stammered with a shaky confidence. "Your code that causes the relay and overload is slow."

"Then fix it, mister smarty pants," I snarked with a playful smile.

Bao stuck his tongue out at me for a split second before focusing on the screen.

Entrusting Bao with the bomb phone program, I let him be so I could go back to navigating and positioning my drones.

I really shouldn't be doing this. It was one thing to bomb an area I knew or had a good view of, but to go off of only thermal imaging? Yeah, I was essentially blind. All I could do was make very educated guesses about the figures I saw on the screen. It was probably safe for me to assume that the mobile figures weren't Lev because why on earth would Lev be given free roam around the place?

After scanning the place carefully a few times, I somewhat confidently determined the figure off in the southwest corner to be Lev. The figure hadn't moved to a different location the whole time, nor had it been mobile. Also, it looked to be sitting. Well, it could be someone hiding out to take a break or something, but given the actions of the other figures, I doubted it.

Another moment passed before I got everything in position. "Bao, set them off," I sternly ordered him, glancing briefly at him out of the corner of my eyes as my finger hovered over the ENTER button of my keyboard.

A look of reluctance and defiance crossed my brother's eyes for a hair for a second before he gave in with a sigh and shake of his head. "I am so going to get shit about this later from the others," he uttered before finishing a line of code and hitting enter.

Seconds later, nearly all the figures on the screen made the same movement of pulling something from their body and holding it before them, which was a cue for me to set off the next chain of events.

"Bombs away bitches."

Chapter 34

Lev

A painful cough forceditself out of my scratchy throat from the hard punch to the gut from Igor.

His hand buried itself into the top of my hair, yanking my head back. "I should just feed you to the sharks," he seethed inches from my face. "Better yet, I should send you back to your family in pieces."

Pooling up the blood in my mouth, I spat it at him with a challenging smirk. "Do it, and you'll get your sister back in pieces the same way." Letting my smugness come out, I slackened my body. "If they don't decide to let Angel torture her. And you better hope Angel doesn't get her hands on Natalia."

Dealing with Angel in the torture chamber was worse than a death sentence, in my opinion. "She'll probably start off by sticking needles under Natalia's nails before ripping them off with pliers and then slowly chopping her fingers off by the joint until there's nothing but nubs left." I shouldn't open my mouth and make my dire situation worse, but if I was gonna die here, then I might as well have some fun. "Imagine how many days worth of mail that'll be to you." I cackled madly before a punch to the face shut me up.

Throwing my bound body off the chair, Igor kicked my midsection until I hacked up blood all over the dirty floor. I was hauled back up into thechair before my heavy head was wrenched back at a painful angle. "I am going to fuck your stupid whore over your grave every damn day after I make her my wife."

A wave of fury heated my body for a split second before an amused laugh barked out of me. "If your words held any promise, then I might take you seriously and snap at you." Deep down, I was furious, but I knew for a damn fact he would never get his hands on Nicole if I were to die.

The deep-seated rage quickly surfaced despite my efforts to keep a lid on it. My heart pounded in my chest while my bound hands clenched into tight fists behind my back. Every seething breath burned as it entered and exited my body through my flared nostrils until it felt like I constantly breathed fire and smoke. "I am going to make you pay for what you did to her once I am free, and if I die, then I will come back and drag you down to Hell and torment you for all of eternity." It wasn't a threat—it was a promise.

Sneering, Igor threw my head and punched me across the face before stepping back. "You're fucking delusional if you think you're going to make it out of this alive."

Mocking him with a sneer of my own, I set my eyes on him in a death glare. "And you're delusional for thinking you'll have any success when you have nothing."

Igor's prideful laugh filled the room, throwing me for a loop. "I have everything I need to overthrow you Volkovs." Slowly, he paced back and forth in front of me. "I've taken more than half of your allies, who have helped me gather a vast amount of wealth to sustain."

A crazed grin inched itself onto his face as he continued to spew shit from the garbage can he called a mouth, "You Volkovs got too cocky and comfortable with the merge that you failed to realize how many were actually against you. I mean, for crying out loud, I got your whore's parents on my side, and it's thanks to them that I am going to be successful in taking you and your stupid brothers down."

Maybe he was a tad out of touch with reality, or stupid… or ignorant… Or all the above. From the sounds of it, he might actually be unaware of the fact that what he prattled about was gone.

My brothers and I had little to no trouble with tracking down and taking care of the traitors on our payroll. We thought taking care of the trash would be difficult, but we didn't struggle one bit because Nicole and Bao took little to no time tracking everyone down. It didn't take much for us to compile a complete list of people either; a lot of the people we captured initially were more than eager to spill with some false promises.

Needless to say, we removed all the rotting bits. Granted, there would always be the risk of someone turning on us in the future, but that was a problem for later when or if it arose. For now, we regained control and respect.

Of course, Igor didn't need to know about any of that. If he didn't notice before, then that was on him for being an ignorant little shit. Besides, if I burst his bubble right now, then he might actually kill me when his perfect little plan imploded on him.

I have no idea what Igor went on about as he continued to run his mouth; I stopped listening long ago. His voice was also very annoying, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for anyone who had to put up with him for more than five minutes.

I didn't bother zoning back in until he stopped midsentence. I had to know what made him shut up. Much to my disappointment, it was his phone. I was about to zone back out until I noticed how his face twisted with confusion momentarily before it stretched out in surprise. A string of curses flew out of his mouth when he let his smoking phone fall from his hand and clatter against the ground.

What the hell is going on?
