“Do you really love my son?” Ace asks, ignoring my statement.
With all my heart.
Ace doesn’t know that I would literally give Killian anything he asks for.
“Yes,” I say, no hesitation.
Ace nods his head slowly and licks the inside of cheek. “He was sent to kill your dad and we will get it done. I don’t care if I have to be the one to do it.”
“I want you and him to talk it out. I don’t want a war. I never wanted one,” I try to explain but it doesn’t seem to matter to Ace.
“This war began long before you and Killian were born, Reign. It’s your dad who won’t let it go. If he backs down and stops having this vendetta, things would go way smoother.”
I furrow my eyebrows at him. “You killed his brother. My Papa isn’t a vengeful person. Have you ever even apologized?”
Ace laughs and shakes his head. “Would your dad really accept an apology?”
I shrug my shoulders. “Maybe.”
Ace licks his lips, just like Killian does, before shaking his head again. “My son can’t be relying on you, Reign. You are simply a temporary matter for him.”
“Why do you say that?” I ask, confused.
“Because something isn’t right with my son. He-” Ace gets cut off by the sound of a door opening. I look at the person who walked in and it’s Papa aiming a gun at Ace. “Malcom,” Ace says in a bored tone.
“Ace,” Papa sneers while glaring at Ace. “I should kill you right now, with no hesitation,” Papa says, making my heart speed up.
“Papa, no,” I beg, making Papa look at me. “You can’t kill him, please.”
“Why? Because you’re in love with Killian De Luca?” Papa raises an eyebrow at me. “Reign, no. He can’t keep controlling you like this.”
“I love him, Papa. Please,” I beg, trying to convince him not to shoot Ace.
He can’t.
Killian has to have a parent figure.
He’s losing his mom.
He can’t lose his dad too.
Papa looks conflicted. His hold on the gun loosens but he still aims it at Ace.
Papa is a good, sympathetic man. He isn’t vengeful or full of darkness like Ace but that’s because both of them were raised differently.
“You shouldn’t have hesitated,” Ace says before pulling out his gun and aiming it at Papa.
Shit.

“I would liketo welcome Killian De Luca to the families officially,” Daniel the Romanian leader says, making everyone in the room clap. “I know we’ll have good years ahead of us with you taking on the new role. Your dad must be proud.”
Everyone in the room agrees which makes me want to roll my eyes.
That asshole could care less what I do.
