“You know, you should really try being a little nicer to me, considering this is my dream.”

It was a good thing he was a master of control, or he would be screaming with frustration by now. Be nicer, he reminded himself. Or else he would end up having to ask these questions several more times. “Will you tell me your name, little one?”

“Charm.” She stepped closer to him and traced her finger down the side of his neck. “It’s strange. I want to bite this little patch of skin right here. Why do I want to do that?”

“I don’t know.” He swallowed hard as she leaned against his chest. “Is that a Krytos trait? The biting thing?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never had that urge before,” she murmured as she nuzzled her face against his neck.

He knew he should pull away, but he couldn’t convince himself to move. Bracing himself for pain, he jerked in surprise when he felt her tongue swipe against his skin instead.

“Mmm, salty and sweet.”

He grabbed hold of her shoulders and held her away from him. He had never felt so outraged and turned on at the same time. “You licked me!”

“Yeah, and? It’s my dream, which means I can do whatever I want. And what I want is you.”

Fucking hell, she was trying to kill him.

“That could be dangerous.”

Pushing his hands away from her shoulders, she wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned in until their lips were only a breath apart. “A little danger can be fun.”

“You do not know me.”

“But I do,” she countered. “Since you are in my dream, you’re mine.”

He tried to protest, but her lips brushed against his, effectively silencing him. A firestorm of need swept through him, and with it came understanding. She was right. She wasn’t just a stranger or a figment of his imagination.

Charm was his mate, the one person destined to be his.

And somehow, she had reached across time and space to find him in a dream.

Chapter Six

Kyryl came awakewith a roar of protest.

“What’s wrong, brother?”

Disoriented, he glanced around to see he was still in the rooftop garden of his sister’s palace. He tried to get up, then had to lower his head and take deep breaths to regain some control over himself. He felt dizzy and sick to his stomach.

Besides his physical discomfort, he felt heartsick from being separated from his mate. He’d just realized that Charm was his when he’d been ripped out of the dream.

Fucking hellfire, his head felt like it was being squeezed in a vice.

“What did you do?” He knew it wasn’t their fault, but he felt angry all the same. “Why did you pull me out like that?”

“Dude, you were glowing,” Rogan explained. “Not the normal glow, but you were pulsing with purple light. It was weird as fuck.”

“You weren’t responding at all,” Lucian added. “Fucking hell, you were barely breathing.”

“We thought you were dying or something,” Jais said. He was now holding Jyn, who was awake and watching everyone with wide, worried eyes. The baby held his arms out to Kyryl, but he still didn’t feel steady enough to hold him.

“You were completely cut off.” Concern made Alestra’s voice tremble. “Normally, you can hear me, even when you are in deep meditation. This was different. It was as if your spirit had completely left your body.”

“It did,” Jade growled, her voice harsh with worry. “Astral projecting is very dangerous. You should not be attempting such things without a tether who can help bring you back safely.”

“Is that what he was doing?” Lucian asked, his voice laced with a combination of fascination and horror. “I didn’t even know that kind of thing was possible.”
