“Just off the highway, near the fork by the road leading into our grounds.”

Devil didn’t hesitate. “Let’s move.”

The roar of engines filled the air as we tore down the highway, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. Brenda wastough as nails, but Fiona... she was still healing. And if Dragon Fire was behind this, I knew exactly what they wanted.Her.

By the time we pulled up to the side of the road, I could see the Dragon Fire bikes surrounding the car, and Brenda was on the ground, pinned by one of their men. Fiona was struggling against another, but she didn’t have the strength to fight him off.

Rage surged through me as I jumped off my bike, my hand already reaching for my gun and firing it in the air, afraid of hitting Fiona. “Get the fuck away from her!”

The Dragon Fire piece of shit turned, their eyes narrowing, but it was too late. The rest of the club was already on em’. Thunder and Chain moved in, taking out the guy who had Brenda, while Devil went straight for the leader.

I barely registered the surrounding chaos. My only focus was on Fiona. I rushed to her side, my heart pounding as I pulled her away from the fight. “Are you okay?”

She nodded, but her eyes were wide, her whole body shaking. “I... I’m fine.”

Brenda, on the other hand, was still cursing like a sailor, even as Thunder helped her to her feet. “Damn assholes tried to take her,” she spat, glaring at the downed men. “Told you they were dumber than they look. Had my cell phone in my hand the whole time.”

I couldn’t help but grin, despite the adrenaline still pumping through me. Brenda was one hell of a woman, and if it weren’t for her, this could have ended a lot worse.

But it wasn’t over yet.

Devil had the leader of the Dragon Fire crew pinned to the ground, his gun pressed against the guy’s forehead. “You better start talking, or this is gonna end real bad for you.”

The man sneered, but there was fear in his eyes. “You think this is over? Drago’s just gettin’ started.”

The Dragon Fire punk was still spitting blood from his busted lip when Chain dragged him over to Devil. His face was a mess, and from the way he was breathing, I’d bet he had a couple of busted ribs, too.

Devil used the butt of his gun to knock his man out and looked at their van. “Load this shit up,” he ordered, his expression dangerous, like a snake coiled and ready to strike as he crouched in front of the next man. “You gonna start talking? Or do I need to let Chain work you over some more?”

The guy groaned, his head hanging low, but I saw the raw fear in his eyes. He was our guy, the one that would squeal.

“I told you everything,” he muttered, blood dripping from his mouth. “Drago... Drago wants her. That’s all I know.”

Devil raised an eyebrow. “Why? Why does Drago care about Fiona?”

The guy’s gaze flicked toward me, then to Fiona, who was standing a few feet back with Brenda. He swallowed hard before answering. “James owed Drago money. Big money. He promised Drago... he’d deliver her to use as leverage and never did.”

Leverage.

The word sent a jolt of anger through me. They’d been planning to use Fiona as a bargaining chip. My hand clenched around the grip of my gun, and it took everything in me not to pull it right then and there.

“You got a location?” Devil pressed, his voice cold and calm, but I knew he was barely holding back. “Where’s Drago holed up?”

The guy hesitated, his eyes darting between Devil and Chain. Devil put his gun to the asshole’s head and cocked it. Finally, he spat out the answer. “The old foundry, about a mile in the woods just off Route 29.”

Devil stood up, his jaw tight. “You better not be jerking me around.” Not waiting for a reply, Devil knocked him out cold.

“We got a fuckin’ problem,” Thunder said, running up to Devil. “In the van.”

We hurried over to the van and looked inside to find Mystic sitting next to a badly beaten, dirty, and unconscious woman. “She’s in a bad way,” Mystic said as he carefully put her head on his lap, which was an unusual thing for him to do.

“She needs help,” Fiona said from beside me, her hand gripping my arm.

“We’ll take her back to the clubhouse and call our doctor to look at her and go from there,” Devil said. “ Now let’s move out before someone comes along.”

Chain hauled the guy to his feet, dropping him with the two other riders. “Take them to the roundhouse and throw them in the hole,” Devil ordered, and looked at the rest of us. “Let’s get back to the clubhouse and regroup. Set a plan.”

I HAD ALWAYSbeen good at cowering and hiding. At keeping my head down and hoping the storm would pass. But asI stood there, watching Bolt and the others surround the Dragon Fire guys, I realized something had changed.
