“Oh, my god. You’reDoc?” I barely managed to speak.

Frank smiled and winked at me.

He knows Matthew.

“Dad. I need the bathroom.”

“You know where it is.” He gave Peter a small push.

I snapped out of my shock at his words and felt disgust fill me.

“Nice to see some things don’t change.” Venom dripped from my voice as I narrowed my eyes. “Your son needed you and you bailed.”

“He’s nine, Edith, I assure you he doesn’t need me to go to the bathroom.”

“Whatever works for you. Right?” I fought back the tears.

“Same mouth I see.” He sneered.

“That beautiful mouth, wit, and woman aren’t your concern.” Frank slid back in and cupped my face, forcing me to look at him. In my peripheral, I saw Greg walk away. “I see tears. Wanna tell me what that’s about?”

“You’re Doc.” I whispered, drifting back into shock by that news.

“I am.” Frank nodded. “It’s a nickname I gained in the Corp due to my last name.”

I chuckled. “Doc Holliday.”

“That’s me.”

“That was my ex.”

“Ex-husband?”

“God no!” I laughed. “Boyfriend. From high school.”

“Seemed like a real jackass.”

“He is.” I swallowed hard. “What are we doing, Frank?”

“What do you mean?”

“Are we just fooling around?” My voice shook as I spoke.

“Nope.”

Taking a deep breath, I mustered up some courage. “I need to tell you something.”

“You can tell me anything.”

“M … Matt?”

“The young boy Peter mentioned?”

Nodding, I wiped a tear away. My voice was barely audible. “He’s my son.”

His thumb wiped away a tear. “I know.”

“How?”
