Jay blew out a loud breath. “Whatever you want, Evelyn. I will wait outside.” He stormed out the door in fury.

I let a single tear cascade down my cheek before I wiped it away. I was taking all my anger that I had on her on my baby. Who didn’t deserve it one bit.

I chugged the entire can of beer in a single go. I hated the taste, but I loved how the alcohol rushed to my brain, dulling the ache in my body.

“Oh, I want one.” I winked at the waiter, taking two shots of tequila from the tray.

I felt Jay stiffen beside me as I blatantly flirted with the waiter. Only if he knew it was going to get so much worse.

I downed both shots in one go and flopped back dramatically on the seat.

We have all settled in the private room of Arcadia, one of the go-to places for parties in L.A., and calling it a room was an understatement because this place could easily fit around two hundred people. This club was so exclusive that you had to be invited to get inside. There were several floors, and there was an actual club with a gigantic dance floor downstairs for the public. The private rooms were mostly for the elite. I laughed to myself—I was an elite now. That was funny.

People were openly doing drugs and almost having sex under the pretense of dancing. And there were rooms for that too, to actually have sex, which they called the dancer room, but everyone knew what it actually was for. The red neon lights flashed around the dark room while music thudded over the speakers, creating a vibe that the elites seemed to love. This place was a complete mess, and so was I.

“Before you tell me to mind my own business, I am just taking the glasses away from your hands,” Mikey said. He was sitting on my left where we were all huddled up in the crescent-style couches at our table.

I saw that the shot glasses were still clutched in my hands before he carefully pried them away.

Katy frowned at me. “What’s wrong with you, Evy? You have been drinking too much lately. Not to say you are being insensitive toward everyone. And you won’t tell me what’s wrong.”

I heard Jay mutter under his breath something along the lines of,like hell, she will. Someone was mad at me—it hurt a little less with all the tequila down in my system. But I needed more.

I snatched another one from the waiter and grinned at him.

Katy sighed while I downed yet another shot. “Evy, can you even hear me? I am talking to you. Why are you acting this way?”

I rolled my eyes at her. “I heard you just fine, Katy. I just chose to ignore you.”

Her eyes flashed in anger. “You are unbelievable. I am trying to help you here. You are acting miserable.”

“Ha, ha, ha. I am so scared now. Go on and do what you always do. Bore someone to death!” I giggled at her.

She fumed with rage.

Mikey just shook his head while Matt’s eyes widened in disbelief that I was talking like this.

Lan placed a hand on Katy’s thigh as he whispered something in her ear.

Jay was quiet beside me. Isolating and hurting the rest of the gang was hard, but it didn’t affect me even a tiny bit compared to what I did to him. He was my whole wide world, and it was killing me to hurt him like this.

White came dashing in with a sparkly miny white dress and the most fake angelic smile on her face. Katy’s face instantly transformed upon her arrival as the two best friends greeted each other like long-lost thirteen-year-olds.

“Oh, look, Katy, your new best friend is here. You can stop bothering me now,” I snickered.

Katy looked hurt. “You are my best friend too, Evy.”

I just rolled my eyes and grabbed my tall glass of vodka from the table, downing it all in one go. It was my cue to leave since White had arrived. Tears clouded my vision and I tried so hard not to let it fall.

“E, maybe you need to tone it down,” Mikey commented under his breath.

Before I could say anything, the Crash Riders joined in with a couple of girls by their side. A tall redhead immediately took her place in Mikey’s lap, and he soon shoved his tongue down her throat.

“Will!” I screamed as I got up to hug him. I swiped my tears quickly so no one would notice. I knew it made Jay really mad when I spent time with Will. I peered at him from over Will’sshoulder. His blue eyes had turned to glaciers while he clenched his jaw so hard that I thought the vein in his forehead might pop out.

I am so sorry, Jay.

“Evy.” Will ran a hand over my upper back.
