I knew Will was back home in Texas, so he couldn’t be of much help.

I opened my phone and saw that the band was playing at the Bluebird Club tonight. I had to go there. He would understand once I told him everything. I knew my baby still loved me.

Because I couldn’t breathe anymore, every breath was agonizingly painful. Only he would save me.

I walked the streets of Los Angeles—a city I promised I would never return to. But here I was. I followed the Google map to the Bluebird Club. The world around me buzzed as I walked. It was like I was stuck in a hazy daze.

I ended up on Griffith Avenue where the club was situated, the entire place outside the club was packed. My eyes widened as I peered at the massive line outside. It was going to be hell getting inside.

There were two more hours till the show started, so I had time.

I crossed the street and walked up to the guy at the front door, who seemed to be arguing with two girls who were trying to get in.

“Hmm, hello,” I said, but he didn’t hear me at all. “Hello,” I said louder this time.

He turned and peered at me with narrowed eyes. He was so tall and huge that it was intimidating.

“Hmm, I need to get in. I know the band.”

He laughed at my face. “Yes, you and all of these people here. I have heard that a million times tonight, princess. Keep moving”

I shook my head. “No, I really know them. You can ask someone if you like.”

“Sorry, princess, no ticket, no entry. Please leave before I escort you out.”

“Please,” I whispered.

But his eyes narrowed so hard that I took a step back.

My hands shook in despair as I turned and walked away. I stood across the street as I willed my mind to think of something.

I needed him.

Please, God, I needed him.I prayed to the heavens.

I tried calling Mikey again, but it only rang and rang.

“E?” Oh, God, he picked up.

“Mikey, I am here, outside the Bluebird. I need to see him, please,” I croaked.

He cursed. “Where are you?”

“Across the street, opposite the front door. Please, Mikey. I need him.”

“Okay, just walk around a few blocks to the left. You can see the back door. Wait for me there. I will be out in ten.”

“Thank you,” I whispered as I rushed there.

A few people were milling around the back door, so I stood in an alley across the road. I had a clear view of the door. I could go there once I see him.

I clutched the ‘J’ on my neck as I anxiously stood there. My heart was racing a hundred miles an hour.

Please, please, please.

Just then, I saw a familiar head poke through the backdoor as he looked around.
