“I don’t care if you don’t say it back. I know I love you, and I want you to know how much you mean to me.”

“I think I started falling for you the moment I saw you in that hallway. It was like all the outside noise faded away and the anguish in me settled. You calmed my soul, Evelyn. I felt free. I feel so free when I am with you.” Jay admitted softly.

My heart skipped a beat as tears shone in my eyes, that was so much better than an ‘I love you.’ I smiled so wide as I brought my lips to his. “I love you.” I kissed him, bearing my soul, bearing all of me, showing how much, I loved him. I settled back in his arms and buried myself in his delicious warmth. “Jay, who is your favorite person in the whole wide world?” I asked, drawing patterns on his skin.

He laughed as he answered, “You.”

CHAPTER 10

I grinned like a fool the entire morning. We woke up early to explore the city because the guys would have to be at the venue earlier to set up. The first thing we did was take a ferry ride along the bay, admiring the early morning view across San Francisco. The Golden Gate stood tall and majestic, gleaming brightly against the bright blue waters. We then strolled down Lombard Street, a beautiful, twisted pathway alongside a beautiful garden studded with flowers. The steep road against the backdrop of the city looked like something out of a fantasy movie. I took about a thousand different photos, mostly of Jay when he wasn’t looking. I also texted some pictures to Aunty M, who was glad I was having fun.

We were now at a seafood place in Union Square, grabbing lunch. The guys had to leave in an hour.

I dug into the best fish and chips I have ever had in my entire life. The gang as usual bickered amongst themselves. I smiled as I watched them, admiring how close they all were. I was so lucky to have found them. They were, honestly, some of the best people in the world. It was like I had a family now. That wasn’t just me and Aunty M against the world.

I laughed as Matt dumped a glass of water on Mikey’s head because he was complaining that it was too hot. Lily just shookher head while Katy and Lan burst out laughing, saying he deserved it.

“You are beautiful,” a warm husky voice whispered in my ear.

I shivered as I turned to gaze into those eyes that I saw every night before I fell asleep. I blushed as I remembered what we did last night. I recalled this morning when I saw hickeys all over my body. Like he tattooed his mark all over me. I loved it.

“I love you,” I whispered so low that only he could hear.

Jay brought his lips close to my ear. “I love you more.”

I shivered all over again.

Today was the last day of the festival. The band killed it the past two nights. The crowds went wild for them.

I was so proud of Jay. Of what he could do. Of how talented he was. He literally commanded the whole room and had them begging for more. I tried not to think about the number of girls who were screaming his name. Because he only had eyes for me. He kept glancing my way throughout the whole show.

He put me in a particular spot that had a clear view of the stage and asked me not to move. I didn’t. I got lost in his music. When Mikey and Jay did a little solo, the crowd almost lost their minds.

I wore the yellow dress today. It was so pretty, almost ethereal. It fit me in all the right places—it was very short, though, and barely made it past my ass.

Katy applied a winged liner to my eyes and asked me to trust her when she painted my lips a bright cherry cool-toned red. She was right—the eyeliner brought out the tiny amber specks in myeyes, and the red lipstick stood out vibrant and bold against my pale skin, giving me a classier look.

Katy donned a short purple glittery dress with her makeup fully done. She honestly looked like a model with her tall, lean body and her long legs accentuated by the high heels she wore. Lily was in her usual black attire and dramatic eyeliner—she was so much like her brother but also so very different.

We were currently in the spot that Jay had assigned for us, while we waited for the band to open up.

I recalled how his eyes darkened when he saw me wearing the yellow dress and red lipstick. I had to try so hard to keep him from kissing me and ruining my lipstick.

The lineup at the festival was crazy. There were a lot of big names playing later today, so the venue was packed.

Soon the lights went low as the band took the stage, and loud cheers filled the air. Matt took his place on the drums, and Lan took the keys. While Jay and Mikey strutted in with their guitars. Jay stood by the microphone and hit the first note, and soon they were playing the opening song. I cheered with the girls screaming to their songs.

I blushed as I noticed he still had my lipstick stained on his neck from when I hugged him earlier. He wore it proudly, just like I did the marks he gave me underneath my dress.

Two songs down the set, Jay took the usual pause to welcome the crowd. “Good evening!” he screamed to the crowd. “Are you all having a great night?” he asked.

The crowds roared ‘yes’ back at him.

“Good, because today is the very last night of the show. And I have something special for you guys.”

The crowds screamed so loud that my ears were buzzing.
