“Why not? She should be privileged to see the hottest rockstar in the world,” Mikey said with a smug look on his face.

“You know your mouth is going to get you in so much trouble one day,” Matt replied.

“My mouth loves trouble. Especially different flavors of trouble,” Mikey said, grinning. “Which I am currently going to find,” he said, walking out the door. “You coming, Matt?” he called out from outside.

“I swear I am going to kick his ass one day.” Matt shot up from beside me, following Mikey.

Lily looked at their backs with a sullen look on her face. She mumbled that she was going to her room and darted off to the other door that led to the house.

They were probably going to ‘The Decades’ their favorite hangout place to find trouble, aka girls. I still couldn’t believe there were girls left in this town that Mikey hadn’t slept with. But knowing how charming he could be, they would literally fall into his trap over and over again. Matt didn’t really sleep around much—he went mostly to chaperone Mikey, who was notorious for wreaking havoc wherever he went. Jay used to join them before I came along. I knew he literally slept with as many girls as Mikey. I tried not to get envious of the girls who got a part of him that I still didn’t have.

“Are you excited for tomorrow?” a voice muttered softly in my ear.

A shiver ran down my spine as I felt him all over me. “Yes,” I whispered.

I glanced at Grandma’s watch on my wrist—it was exactly six in the evening. Jay would be arriving any moment now. I hauled my bag higher onto my shoulder as I waited for him. Soon, a cherry-red truck pulled up in my driveway, and the most beautiful boy I had ever seen walked toward me with a radiant smile on his gorgeous face.

“Hey,” I mumbled, starstruck.

“Hey, sweetheart,” Jay said, greeting me with a sweet kiss. “Are you ready?” he asked, taking my bag from me.

Jay literally coddled me all the time. Not that I complained. He did even the smallest things for me—he was the most attentive and considerate boyfriend a girl could ask for. I loved it when he gave me the princess treatment. It tugged on a special place in my heart.

“Yes,” I replied with a nervous smile.

He ushered me into his truck while he held the door open, being the perfect gentleman he was. He even fastened my seatbelt while stealing a quick kiss. I sighed internally—this man was going to be the death of me.

I admired the view as we journeyed to our little getaway—the cabin in the woods. The view was definitely him. He was so hot in his signature black leather jacket and tousled hair that was so perfectly messy. He had one hand slung over the steering wheel and the other on my thigh that he squeezed every now and then. I gushed whenever he did that. He smirked like he knew exactly what he was doing to me.

I squirmed with nervous energy as we got closer and closer to our destination. I thought of our potential endeavors at the cabin. I would finally have him—all of him. Oh, God, I crossed my legs as I held in a moan.

Jay’s head snapped in my direction like he knew exactly what I was thinking about. I flushed. His eyes gleamed a molten azure as he peered into me before he switched his gaze ahead.

I swallowed. The words between us were left unspoken, and the air around us turned murky like we knew exactly what was about to transpire when we got to the cabin.

An hour later, we arrived at a clearing off the highway. Jay parked the car to open a small gate that led to a twisted off-road further down the woods. We drove down for a few minutes until we reached an open glade.

Dusk started to settle in, casting a marvelous purplish-pink glow over the cabin. A lake sat across the cabin, and the waterglimmered as it reflected the vibrant hues of the sunset. The smell of earth and forest hit my senses as I walked over to the front porch of the cabin.

A stubby old man with steel gray hair greeted Jay, “Hey, son. I have got everything ready for you.”

Jay smiled as he gave him a half-hug. “Hey, Marley. Thank you so much for doing this for me,” he said, gesturing in my direction. “Meet Evelyn, my girlfriend. Evy, Marley used to be my uncle’s friend. He owns a cabin not too far from here. I asked him to set things up at the cabin.”

“Hi, Marley. It’s so nice to meet you.” I smiled, shaking his hand.

“I am so happy our Emmie here found a beautiful girl like you.” Marley beamed with the warmest smile, waving toward Jay. “I have known him since he was a boy, and he has never brought anyone to the cabin, so you must be very special to him.”

I gave him a shy smile. “I love him.” I shrugged. I wasn’t sure what to say. I assumed Jay had brought the whole gang to this place at some point. But it looked like he didn’t.

“I will leave you kids to it then. Enjoy your stay.” He waved as he walked to a navy blue truck parked beside ours.

“Bye, Marley. Thanks again!” Jay called out as Marley got into his truck and drove away, leaving us alone. I swallowed.

“Wait here. I will go get our things from the car,” Jay said as he rushed to the truck.

The cabin was so beautiful, tucked away among the tall cedars. The warm wooden exteriors of the cabin blended with the forest.
