“Look at those legs.”
My head whipped to the side as I glared at the Master who was walking by, looking up and down my body. I hadn’t thought to get dressed, and I was still wearing my camisole top with the matching light blue shorts. The length appeared to be grabbing attention from the men around me, but I cared for no one but Braddock.
“Drink. Drink. Drink!”
The yells from the bar had me walking deeper into the room at a fast pace. The crowd was thick, but I barely got to take it in before I spied my Master sitting next to Elec at a table off to the side. My legs shook and my knees grew weak, banging into each other as I slowly took a step back.
No emergency.
No close call.
Bringing my hand between my cleavage, I took in the hard beats pounding into my chest. I spun, letting myself relax through my walk back to the room. The cheering grew quieterwith every step, and I didn’t realize my mistake until I made it back to our door.
I was locked out. I never thought to look for the key or even see if it was still inside before I bolted from the door. I’d have to wait for Braddock to come home. I really didn’t want to interrupt his meeting with the Main Master. I didn’t want to be standing at the door either.
Slowly, I walked back to the lobby. The place was on the busy side with people coming and going. Stores aligned the area, along with a snack and a coffee cart. I spotted an empty loveseat, headed that way, and sat. A couple passed, and not minutes later three Masters walked out of the elevator. Some headed towards the hall of their apartments while another walked over to grab a muffin from the cart.
I frowned, sinking more into the soft cushions. More minutes passed. It was getting late. My eyes got heavy, but I waited for my Master to leave. I went to head to the bar when the elevator door opened. Mistress Two stepped out. She was with a man who had dark hair. The way she was speaking to him, it looked purely business. She was shaking her head and didn’t look happy. When her stare met mine, she slowed, losing the anger as it was quickly replaced with a smile.
Rage ignited but so did guilt. I stepped forward, watching as she spoke something to the man. He nodded, heading for the hall housing the apartments, but she didn’t go with him. With a sway of her hips, she headed right for me.
One step.
Tick.
Two.
Tick.
The smile that came to my face was one I couldn’t stop. My head tilted down, and I felt the energy shift within me as she glanced around us. Her fear had me smiling wider. Even as Ifelt myself closing the distance, I knew I should stop. I was going against orders. Against Braddock, and most importantly, I was going against my Main Master. But tick. Tick. Tick. I could feel tapping against my forehead and into my very skull.Tick. Thump. Tick. Thump. Me. Me. Me. Tap. Tap. Tap. Yes, her. Mistress Two. Tap. Her. Tick. Tick. Tick!
I raced forward, seeing her scream but hearing nothing as my legs flexed through the movements of me pushing harder. I was flying. Running so fast that I knew seconds had barely passed but an eternity lasted with each one.
“Help! Help?—”
My hands reached for her as I felt myself slide to a stop just short of making contact. It was a silent order. A command I couldn’t break. As if I was close to fire, my fingers curled in, and I took steps back. The anger that flashed on the Mistress’s face wasn’t something I missed. My lips parted, and I saw her lids narrow. It was in that moment the tapping on my forehead grew. It was trying to draw me in. Trying to get me to act. I scrambled back, right into the arms of Braddock.
“What is going on here?”
The Main Master’s deep voice had Melissa tearing her gaze away from me, but not for long. She was waiting for me to react. She was hoping I would. That I’d even stopped to begin with was a pure miracle.
“I asked you a question, Mistress. What is going on here?”
Her glare only intensified.
“She was going to attack me. This slave is a danger. She’s like all the other blank slates who went rogue. I want her put downimmediately.”
“Fuck you.” Braddock’s weight pushed against my back, but I quickly grabbed his shirt, keeping him behind me. “You’re not touching Allison.”
“She’s not stable. Look at her.”
“Not stable.” More, Braddock added his weight against me. “You’re not fucking stable. You’re a psycho-bitch who ruined my life! If anyone needs to be put down, it’s you. You’re sick, Melissa. Youarethe disease.”
Melissa’s lip peeled back as her full attention went to my Master.
“What brave words you use.”
“Melissa.”
