“Logan, you there?” he says, concern lacing his voice.

“Yeah, I'm here.” I continue walking around my car and glare daggers at the stupid fucking mud.

“So, are you going to tell me why you called me at one in the morning or do you want me to guess? Let me think.” He pauses, “Hmm. You couldn’t wait until the morning to see me and want me to come over right now,” he says confidently.

I roll my eyes. “I don’t have time for your stupid caveman attitude right now. I need help.”

It’s like a switch is flipped, the caveman is gone, and the serious protective bear is out. I hear the distinct sound of a belt buckle jingle. I can almost picture him flying out of bed and putting on his pants.

Damn, to see that man in nothing but boxers. I fan my face as it starts to heat up. Geez, it’s either the delirium or the fact that I’m tired of fighting the insane pull I feel between Grayson and me.

He has given me plenty of kisses on the forehead. I feel how soft his lips are, I can only imagine what they would feel like on my lips. Or on my—

My thoughts are cut off by Grayson’s panicked voice.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” he asks.

“I’m fine. My stupid ass Jeep got stuck in the mud and I can’t get out. Can you come help me please?”

“Text me your location now. Are you inside the car?” I hear a door shut and the sound of his truck unlocking.

“Umm, no. I’m outside trying to kick the mud off my damn tires,” I say as I fail at knocking the mud off. My poor Nikes are going to need a bath to get all this mud off.

His tone turns from concerned to serious. “Logan, get back in the car right now, and don’t get out until I get there.”

I stop and freeze. “But..”

“Logan, don’t argue with me. Get inside your car. Now.” He commands. I’ve never heard him sound so powerful before and I can't say I hate it.

Realization dawns on me that I am alone in the middle of nowhere. “Fine. But only because I’m cold. Not because you told me to.” I snap back.

Talking with him like this is distracting me from going into full blown panic mode.

I swear I hear a slight chuckle, but I let it go without saying anything because I’m freezing my ass off. I just want to be in bed like yesterday.

I run around the side of the car and as if this night can't get any worse, I slip in the damn mud. My phone drops from my hand as I try and grasp at something to catch myself. It’s useless and I land straight on my ass in a giant puddle, hitting a loose rock when I land. Pain shoots up my tailbone into my back.

So much for avoiding an injury to my ass earlier with the old man.

I let out a groan and mutter, “Motherfuckerrr.”

Grayson must have heard me because when I pick up my phone, which luckily landed on the one piece of dry ground, I hear him yelling my name.

I bring the phone up to my ear.

“LOGAN! Can you hear me?” Grayson yells, sounding completely panicked.

Groaning in pain, I manage to say, “I’m fine. I slipped and dropped my phone.”

He lets out a sigh of relief. “Shit, Angel, you scared me. Are you okay? Is anything broken?” he rambles.

“I'm fine, I promise. Just give me a second,” I say as I stand up, wiping my hands on my ass to get some of the mud off. Which is useless because my pants are wet and soaking down into my underwear, making me shiver as the cold water reaches my skin.

I walk around to the driver-side back door and grab the blanket I keep in there for emergencies. I close the door so I can hang on to the door handle while opening the driver's door. Placing the blanket on the seat, I grab theoh shit handleto hoist myself up. The second my butt hits the seat; I drop my head back on the headrest.

Reaching out I close the door and press the lock button. The warmth of the car immediately soothes me. I close my eyes and let out a deep breath, fighting the tears that are attempting to escape my eyes.

I would have been fine if there wasn’t a rock in the puddle, but the pain is setting in more by the minute and my back really fucking hurts.
