A white Jeep very similar to mine comes into view and Grayson lets out an annoyed groan.
“Who is that?” I ask.
Burying his face in my neck, he mumbles. “That’s Noah.”
I rack my brain and try to remember.
“Your younger brother?’
“Yeah. I’m sorry, Angel.”
I give him a questioning look. “Why are you sorry?”
The sound of a door shutting takes our attention away from each other.
A voice yells from the driveway. “Hey, Gray, you finally get your head out of your ass and trade in your fancy truck to match me?”
Grayson taps my thigh and signals for me to stand. I don’t mean to, but I hide halfway behind his giant body and pull his arm to shield the rest. Meeting his brother in a bikini with a giant bruise on my back isn’t the way I saw this introduction going.
A tall man with tattoos covering both of his arms with blond hair walks right up to the hot tub, not looking up from his phone. He looks oddly familiar, but I can’t place him.
When he glances up from his phone, he laughs. “Oh, hello. I’m Noah.”
I’m about to answer but Grayson speaks up.“What are you doing here?” Grayson asks, annoyance clear in his voice. “I thought you had to work.”
“Leo came back from vacation and wanted to work an extra shift. I called you to see if you wanted to go hiking but you didn’t answer. So, I checked here first. Now I know why you didn’t pick up.”
Sighing, Grayson looks down at me and then back to his brother. “Noah, this is Logan. Logan, this is Noah.”
“She knows, dipshit. I just told her my name. Logan, are you sure you want to be with a grumpy asshole like him? I’m so much more fun.”
Grayson tenses. “Back off, asshat.”
Noah claps and points a finger in Grayson’s face. “Ha! I knew it. You have been a miserable ass because of a girl. You should have seen him, Logan, he was like a lost puppy. Are you going to be here for a while? Hang on, I’ll grab us some beers and join you.”
Noah is talking so fast that I am barely able to keep up. I try to formulate a response but before I can, he turns around and runs inside.
Grayson sighs and sits back down, pulling me into his lap. “So, that’s Noah.”
I try to contain my laugh, but it slips out. Noah may have rambled, but I did pick up on one little thing.
I poke his side. “So, you were acting like a lost puppy?”
“I don’t know what he’s talking about. Now kiss me before he comes back out here and I have to keep things PG,” he says, tangling his fingers in my hair and bringing my face inches from his.
He doesn’t have to tell me twice. I wrap my arms around his neck and do as I am told.
Chapter Twenty
Grayson
FuckingNoah.TheminuteI saw his Jeep come up the driveway, I knew the nice relaxing day I had planned for my girl was gone.
Noah and I grew up the closest out of the rest of my brothers. After Wes and Landon left for college, it was only me and Noah left, so we had no choice but to get close. And we see each other the most outside of family dinners and missions. So, I should have known he would notice that something was going on and now that he’s here, I’m sure he’s inside texting everyone about Logan.
I don’t have a problem with Logan meeting my family. They will love her and take her in as their own, especially my mom.
Noah makes friends with everyone, which makes him a kickass bar owner. He watches people interact at the bar all day and can pick up pretty quickly if they are a decent person or if he needs to keep an eye on them.
