“I hope you’re not going to tell me that I have to move tomorrow,” he said, his tone strident.
Her skin flushed, and shemumbled, “Um, no sir.”
“Good.” This, from him.
She handed me the room key and reeled off a spiel about the hotel which Ihalflistened to while distracted by Blue Eyes, who’d taken out his phone again.
Check-in complete, I wheeled my suitcase with the duffel bag on top of it toward the elevator. While I waited for it to come, my phone vibrated in my handbag. Before I could reach for it, the elevator dinged, and I decided whoever it was could wait.
I got inside the stall and pulled out the phone.
A hand appeared and stopped the doors from closing. Blue Eyes stood in the doorway. His magnetic gaze captured mine and my heart pulsed to an irregular rhythm.
“Hello, again.” He stepped over the threshold and wheeled his suitcase inside, sucking the air out of the tiny space.
