Page 6 of Thor

Before Thadren had put his hand on her thigh she’d never been touched by another man beside her father. And her father had never touched her with affection. The occasional slap or shove had been the best of physical contact with him.

A bell rang and Sutrelle glanced at a clock on the wall. Eight p.m. exactly.

“Everyone take your seats please,” Aphrodite announced.

“I’m over there.” She pointed to the corner.

Val held up her paper. “Eight.”

Sutrelle nodded and took a step away but Val grasped her arm.

“Don’t leave your table. When I finish with Loki, I’ll find you and we can head back topside.”

Sutrelle nodded. Though they were supposed to be creating a new life for themselves Val continued to keep Sutrelle under a careful eye.

“And remember,” Val whispered. “No one can find out who you are. You never know who would be willing to sell you out for favor with your father.”

Sutrelle dropped her eyes and wondered if her father would ever stop ruining her life.

The bell rangas Loki entered. Thor couldn’t help but smile as he walked up and handed Loki a piece of paper.

“What’s this?” He inspected the paper and scowled. “You didn’t.”

“If I have to, you have to.”

“Why? Frigg’s not my mother. I didn’t promise her anything.”

“Call it payback.”

“For what?” Thor opened his mouth but Loki held up his hand. “Never mind. Fine. But I’m only doing this because if I don’t Aphrodite and Eve will have my balls for earrings. But don’t think this is the end, cousin.”

Thor snorted.Cousin. They may both be Norse Gods, but they were far from being any kind of blood relation. The closest relation to Loki besides his children was Thor’s adoptive mother Frigg.

Loki sighed before heading past the plush velvet curtain and sitting at table eight. Thor found his table and glimpsed a head of long thick fire-colored waves cascading from a slender, tiny form.

Damn... he’d always had a weakness for redheads.

CHAPTER3

Sutrelle’s nerveshad her almost jumping out of her seat when the chair across from her pulled out and creaked under the weight of someone heavy. Her hands shook as she stared at the glitter and fake jewels on the table, and then slowly raised her gaze to be met with the darkest eyes she’d ever seen. The majority of men she’d been around in Muspelheim had varying shades of brown and orange eyes. But none as deep and dark as the ones across from her. They reminded her of the most delicious chocolate ganache she’d recently had at a patisserie topside.

He brushed a dark curl from his thickly lashed eyes and stared at her with intense interest.

“I’m Thor,” he said, his voice rolling like thunder. His hand clunked against the tabletop as his various rings hit it.

The urge to flee grew ever greater. She wasn’t stupid. She’d known it was Lady Frigg and Loki who had gotten her out of Muspelheim but somehow seeing Thor— her father’s immortal enemy made her want to run back to the surface of Midgard and hide forever. What would happen if he found out who she was? Would he kill her? Word had it he hated both Fire and Ice Giants alike. That he would rather kill them than breathe the same air they did. And here she sat, a half fire giant, across from the one man who would hate her more than her father did.

Her magic rose in her veins, and she clenched her fists tight to keep it from unleashing. She’d only ever used it when training with Val, and it was unpredictable at best.

They stared at each other in silence for a long moment before he asked, “Do you have a name?” He raised a questioning eyebrow.

Her throat dried, and she couldn’t make her lips move.

A slight smile creased the corner of Thor’s lips. “Shy? That’s a new one. Most women here can’t wait to tell you everything about themselves. Is this your first time here?”

Sutrelle nodded and again they spent a moment staring at each other. Sutrelle was sure she’d never seen a more handsome man. Dressed in a black leather coat and t-shirt, his face sported some dark scruff. His prominent cheekbones and pouty mouth gave him an almost feminine appearance. But his square jaw and intense eyes were so totally masculine that he was a perfect balance of handsome and terrifying. He looked nothing like what she had envisioned. He was so much more...
