“So is being a vet, I’d imagine. A life is a life, and I’ve known pets worth a million people.”

I grin at her. I can’t really deny that.

“I should tell you that Indy and I were planning on going to Kentucky later this week to meet all of you. I discovered who I was after meeting a member of the Savage Brothers MC chapter.”

“Who was that?” Torin asks.

“Devil.”

“Shit, really?”

“Mommy! He said a bad word!” Tinny announces.

Joker looks at me and I swear I think the man blushes. It seems out of place. The guy is almost as big as Breaker, with tousled black hair and bedroom eyes. He couldn’t hold a candle to Breaker, but he definitely is hot.

“Sorry,” the man mumbles, and I hold back my laughter.

“You need to go sooner, Mattie. Our parents are slowly grieving themselves to death. Not to mention Thea—our sister. She’s a mess. Plus, she’s pregnant!”

“We’ll go at the end of the week. Indy is working to clear her schedule.”

Skylar stubs-up and gives Breaker a disgusted look. “Losing your memory must have altered who you are, because right now you’re being pretty damn selfish.”

“Watch your mouth around my daughter or you can leave,” he orders. “I’m not going to Kentucky without my family by my side.”

“I don’t see why you can’t bring them with you another time and go now to let everyone know you’re okay and alive. This is your mother and father. The people who gave you life and raised you,” she points out.

“They’re also people that I don’t know. They’re people that when I meet them, I will meet them with my woman and daughter by my side.”

“Mattie—”

“Baby, let it go. Breaker’s right. It’s plain that he’s claimed Indy as his old lady and little Tinny as his. I wouldn’t want to face what he’s going through without you by my side either. You need to understand that. If you don’t stop pushing, you’re going to push your brother away forever.”

Skylar looks up at Torin and nods. When she turns her face back to Breaker, that’s when I see the tears running down her cheeks. “I’m sorry. It’s just, I really thought you were dead, Mattie. I guess I just want you back in Kentucky, where I know you’re safe and okay.”

“I’m better than okay. I may not remember the life I once lived in Kentucky, but I know without a doubt that I’ve never been happier.” Once he says that, he leans over and kisses me quickly on the lips.

“Hey! I want a kiss!” Tinny whines.

Breaker laughs and bombards her face with kiss after kiss, making Tinny burst into fits of giggles.

“Indy, thank you for saving my brother and making him so happy.”

“I think Breaker saved me as much as I saved him,” I murmur.

We turn the conversation to general things, and we all take a deep breath as tension leaves the atmosphere around us. I appreciate Breaker being general about when we were going to Kentucky, but I am starting to agree with Skylar. I think the sooner he meets his family, the easier it will be for everyone involved.

I’ll talk to him about it in private tonight—about the time I show him just how much I love him for making my daughter feel as secure in his love as he has with me.

God, I completely love this man.

Chapter 24

Breaker

“You’re quiet tonight,” I whisper.

“It has been a busy day,” Indy responds quietly, her fingers sifting through the scattering hair on my chest.
