The next day he was a lot better, so they tried to make up for lost time. They had a great day, sightseeing and shopping and eating delicious food.

When they finally got back to their suite, it was late and Eve was happy and tired. They’d both had fun today. Jude knew a ton about Egyptian history, so he rambled on about all kinds of interesting details and stories.

He really loved nerding out like that. He could have been a great teacher. He was still on a roll and completely consumed by the topic of conversation as they walked into their bedroom.

Eve toed off her shoes and collapsed sideways on the bed.

Jude paused, gazing down at her with a fond smile. “Am I boring you?”

“No! Not at all. I’m just exhausted. It’s been a long day.”

“It has. But we can sleep in late tomorrow if we want.”

They’d extended their trip by a day because Jude had hated to miss out on so much from being sick. Tomorrow they wereplanning a short cruise down the Nile that didn’t start until noon.

“That sounds good to me. You’re still feeling okay?”

“Yeah. I’m tired too but otherwise fine. But I’m pretty sure I probably stink, so I’m going to take a shower before bed.”

“That’s a good idea. You go ahead. I’m going to lie here and try to recover from the day.”

Jude chuckled at that as he went into the bathroom, leaving the door half-open.

She heard him turning on the water and then taking off his clothes and getting in.

She wasn’t sure how long he was in there because she wasn’t looking at a clock, but it wasn’t more than ten minutes. As he was drying off, she managed to summon enough energy to get up off the bed and go into the bathroom so she could shower too.

Jude was still naked as she came in, combing out his wet hair. He smiled at her, completely unselfconscious about his lack of clothes.

She flushed slightly but not from embarrassment. She really liked the looks of him, but she was too tired to feel sexy. Mostly it felt intimate, and she wasn’t used to it.

“You want to go right to sleep, don’t you?” he asked as she found a clean towel and turned on the water. He was watching her in the mirror above the sink.

“Yeah. That’s what I was thinking. Is that okay?”

He huffed with a dry smile. “Uh, yeah. That sounds good to me. I’m about to collapse.”

“Okay. Good.” She pulled off her clothes and stepped into the shower as Jude was pulling on a pair of light gray pajama pants.

He was already in bed when she came out wearing a nightgown, her hair loose. When she climbed under the covers, he pulled her toward him but not to kiss or start to get sexy.

He evidently wanted to hold her as they went to sleep, and Eve was quite happy with that.

She wanted to sleep in his arms while she could.

It was several hours after they’d gone to sleep but still dark in the room when she woke up again, her mind and body throbbing with arousal.

She didn’t remember dreaming, but she’d somehow gotten turned on as she slept. It might be because Jude was on top of her, his groin pressed against hers.

He was hard in his pants, mumbling softly and rocking his hips down into her.

He was asleep too. She knew it immediately. But the targeted thrusting of his pelvis was so good it took her a minute or two to clear her mind enough to react.

“Jude,” she finally managed to gasp. She was hot and flushed and sweating and intensely aroused. She couldn’t stop herself from grinding up against his erection.

“Mm-hmm.” He ducked his head into the crook of her neck and mouthed the side of her throat clumsily, still rocking into her, mirroring the motion of lovemaking.

“Jude, are you awake?” Her voice now was clearer and louder because she was starting to panic. She wanted this—him—so much, but she still didn’t know if he was even conscious of what he was doing.
