But to our momentary relief, she wasn’t there. But what was there were her keys, phone, and opened wallet.
“Kayden, the cameras!” I cried out as I picked up her items. The phone screen was broken, and its battery was almost dead.I flipped through her wallet. Her cash and cards were still there; only her ID was missing.
“Rose… fuck! Rose!”
Kayden walked over, gripping his hair as he held his phone out to me. I took it from him, and he slapped the hood of her car a number of times while letting out an anguished shout as I watched the replay video.
A man wearing a vest walked up behind her, slammed her into the car. Then, a struggle ensued. And when I saw him hit my little girl twice, the second time making her body go limp, my blood boiled. I rewatched it. As much as it pained me to see my daughter hurt like this, I needed to watch the details. He walked up confidently behind her when she wasn’t looking. Pause. I zoomed in on the patch on his back, screenshotted it, and sent it to my phone.
I watched it further as he picked her up, looked directly at the camera, and smirked before walking out of the range of the security camera. He hadn’t even tried to hide his face or body. He was either a moron or wanted his identity to be found out.
I opened my phone as Kayden stilled, hands flat on the hood of the car.
“I know who has her,” I stated as I compared the patch to the ones I had known from the motorcycle clubs and gangs in the state. The Wayward Suns MC.
Kayden stepped over to look. “Aren’t those…” Kayden started, and I nodded.
“The motorcycle club that used to do work for CJ? Yes. But that ended a few years back when it changed leadership. The new leader didn’t want anything to do with his dealings.”
Was this a plot to get back at CJ? Knowing we were connected, did they decide to come after Rosalie, figuring that we might turn to him for help?
I looked around the alleyway for a moment, and then something caught my eye.
Was that a tag on the side of the custom shop?
I grabbed Kayden’s jacket and pointed. We walked over.
“We know who belongs to you, Enforcer,”Kayden read out loud, looking at the fresh white paint.
“Kayden, this doesn’t have anything to do with him. This is something her boyfriend has dragged her into.” My blood pumped through my brain. I was livid.
I knew the day I found out she was sneaking around with this enforcer from the BLVD Riders that he was going to be trouble.
“I need to find out where they are. We need to get home.”
With that, we drove home, and I spent the entire night and morning poring over my laptop and files where the exact clubhouse location for the BLVD Riders was. And when I found them, not even Kayden could stop me from going.
CHAPTER 24
KORDELL
Two cars were parkedlike they’d just drifted to a stop into the parking lot based on the level of smoke still lingering behind the red-and-black Viper. Her mom was looking around the compound, head turning left to right quickly, and fuck did she look pissed. A door slammed, and Rosalie’s dad yelled her name as he started to run around his car, it was obvious he had chased her here.
“Rose! Wait a minute!”
And when she saw me, she started to storm over, followed by Kayden. Two of our guys ran over and grabbed her father’s arms, and he struggled against them. But when one tried to grab her mother, he was met with a revolver to his face. He hit the brakes as she turned to face him, and a dozen others pulled out their guns, taking aim at her.
What a fucking shit show.
“Hey, easy now, everyone. Let’s calm down. Who’re you guys?” Damien started as she pushed one of the shotgun barrels that was taking aim next to her down toward the ground. “You look like you’re not from around here.”
She looked Rose over and then glanced at me as she saw who she was glaring toward.
“You know each other?” Damien asked me.
“Her parents,” I stated plainly. Fuck, what did they want?
“Got it. Easy, men. Let them go. They aren’t a threat to us—well, maybe to Kordell, but not the club.” She waved them up.
