Chapter Twenty-One
Raelynn
I wrap a towel around me as I get out of the shower. My mind filtering through all the things that were said earlier. I can’t make sense of any of it. I’m not even sure I want to.
I open the door of the bathroom and run right into Brooks.
“Sorry, I didn’t hear the water on. I didn’t know you were in here.”
“It’s fine,” I say as I try to pass him.
“I meant what I said earlier.”
I can feel him staring down at me as he blocks me in the doorway. I don’t know what to say or how to respond.
“Are you just going to ignore me the whole time you stay here?”
I glance up at him.
Big mistake.
The desire I saw in his eyes earlier has doubled. A flame burning bright enough to almost cast all my inhibitions aside.
Almost.
He must see the hesitation in my face because his fingers touch the outside of my thigh.
A whisper of a touch.
But enough to make me shudder.
I glance down hoping it will mask what his touch evokes.
The sexual tension between us is palpable and I know he feels it too. Every inch higher his fingers move up my thigh, both of our breathing increases.
I make the mistake of looking into his whiskey eyes. The gold flecks burning brighter than flame.
His head drops to my level.
His breath caresses my neck, my cheek.
My entire body is shaking in anticipation of the one thing that might destroy me.
He pauses just in front of my lips.
We share the same breath as he whispers, “Tell me you want this.”
I lift my mouth closer to his. Lost in the addiction of his smell, dying to know his taste. My heartbeat speeds up as his lip barely touches my bottom lip. His hand grips my hip under my towel. I’m dizzy in lust.
He takes the final plunge as his mouth descends on mine.
Pure ecstasy.
And fire.
Two heart beats beating so hard they almost beat in sync.
Until my brain kicks in and I pull away.
