“Cum.”

Swallowing hard, I nodded. I felt him move and then he was bringing a pack into the front seat. I heard him rummage through it and was handed some napkins from a fast-food restaurant and a used shirt.

“Best I got,” he told me apologetically. “Use them to clean yourself up. You have clothes in your backpack?”

Nodding, I twisted in my seat and, after a quick search, secured a clean pair of underwear. “And how do I do this?”

“I’ll open the front and back door, and I’ll stand in front of the car so no one can see through,” he assured me.

I had nothing to offer, so I simply did what he told me, and using his shirt as a towel, all the napkins, and some hand sanitizer as carefully as I could, I cleaned myself as much as possible and then pulled on clean panties and tried not to think negative thoughts about my being a wanton hussy.

When I was done, I stood up and tried to work out the knots in my body. Caleb came around to stand beside me, and with no hesitation, he reached out for me, tugging me into his body, and kissed me soundly.

“I’m sorry that got awkward,” he said softly against my lips. “If we ever do that again, I’ll make sure it’s in better surroundings.”

I was finding it hard to speak. What did he meanif, shouldn’t it bewhen? “No audience would be better,” I said instead of demanding answers. I couldn’t bethatgirl who thought a fumble at the side of the road meant more than it was.

Actually, screw that. “If? What do you meanif?”

Caleb’s smile was slow and sinful. “Good girl,” he murmured before pressing a light kiss to my lips. “You ready to move?” he asked, pulling back.

“Yup. Bring on the mountain.”

His smile was infectious, and with another quick peck, he waited for me to get back in the car, quickly following me.

“You need to sleep?” Caleb asked as he started the car.

“You said a few hours before…” My cheeks were red again.

“Yup. Sleep if you can, you’ll need it.”

“You don’t need to sleep?”

Caleb’s grin was wicked. “Nope, I have a sudden burst of energy this morning.”

Laughing at his playfulness, I shoved at his arm. “Shut up.” As I settled in the seat, we fell into an easy silence while Caleb drove. I tried not to look at him all the time as I replayed every touch of his on my body. Eventually, the excitement of the morning caught up with me, and I fell asleep.

“Hey, Willow, wake up.”The gentle touch on my shoulder was interrupting my lovely dream. A dream where I was wrapped up in the cocoon of Caleb.

“Go away, I’m still sleeping,” I mumbled.

“Yes, you are, but you need to wake up.”

I knew that voice. That amused lilt in his tone, which I never knew if he was laughingatme orwithme. Opening an eye, I saw Caleb leaning over me. “Hey?”

“Hey,” he greeted. “You can wake up now.” Stepping back,I saw the high mountains surrounding us, and a streetlight, and looking past him, I saw a store and more. “Thought you might want to eat?”

My tummy rumbled at the thought, and within a few minutes of waking up, I was brushing my teeth in a diner’s bathroom with my toiletry bag from my backpack open beside me. I’d also taken the opportunity to do a better job of cleaning up. I still wasn’t shower clean, but it was better.

When I eventually came out, Caleb was seated and eating his breakfast sandwich. Men had it so easy.

“Took your time,” he commented as I slid into the booth.

“See you didn’t wait for me,” I replied, but whatever he was going to say was cut off when a plate of food was placed in front of me.

“There you go. We kept it warm for you,” the waitress told me. “Your man get it right?” she teased with a smile at Caleb.

Looking down at my breakfast, I nodded. “Looks good.”
