“Check the footage downstairs,” I told Ivan, rubbing Aspen’s back as my wolf started snarling. “See if you can get someone into Chad’s room to search too.”

Ivan nodded and pulled out his phone.

I hadn’t smelled anything on Chad since we’d been here and I’d made a point of staying as close to him as possible, but the odds were too great to be coincidental. If I had proof that he’d dealt to my mate, all the fucking bets were off. I’d become Lester in a heartbeat, destroying him in cold blood and taking his female cousins down with him without breaking a sweat.

“We need to go,” Fallon whispered, stepping foot into my room.

My wolf growled louder, causing Aspen to turn and bury her face against my chest. My sister froze where she was standing.

There was a knock on the door and Fallon’s eyes widened. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

We both listened to the sound of Edith and Chad talking in the hall.

I pressed a kiss to Aspen’s cheek, tucking her in under the throw blanket, and smoothed down the wrinkles of my shirt as I stood, ready to end this game.

“Beau’s got the key to search Chad’s suite,”Ivan mind-linked me as he slipped into Fallon’s room.

I closed the door to my bedroom behind me, heading to the bar cart, as Fallon went to open the front door.

“Oh my Goddess, is Aspen okay?” Edith’s rosewater scent preceded her as she pushed her way into the suite.

I poured a glass of scotch and took a sip, barely keeping my beast within me as he snarled and paced in my mind. Chad followed Edith into the room, sniffing. There was no point in hiding the fact that Aspen was here. Her scent was everywhere and all over me.

“She’s fine.” Fallon shut the door. “What were you guys partying with?”

My sister was always smooth as she fished for information. I was grateful for that skill now because I didn’t think I had it in me tonight to stay calm. I took another sip of scotch, letting the burn run down my throat, and turned my attention to the Tulia clan.

Edith frowned as she looked at Chad. “It was just an apple martini.”

“I’ve never met a wolf who couldn’t hold their liquor.” Chad’s bemused smile stayed on his face as he glanced at my bedroom door.

“You didn’t give her anything else?” Fallon asked again, moving beside me to pour her own drink.

“No,” they both said.

Fallon and I sniffed discreetly.

Knowing they were telling the truth did little to soothe my beast.

“Beau says their suite is clean,”Ivan spoke to me from the other room.

I took another long drink and made my way to the couch, still watching the Tulia children.

If not them, then who?

I don’t trust this. It’s another game.

I needed the footage from downstairs.

Edith came closer, taking a seat across from me uninvited as she propped her ass on the coffee table. “Are you okay, Ranger?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” I arched an eyebrow, holding my scotch glass loosely in my fist so I didn’t smash it.

She looked to her cousin and Fallon, lowering her voice when she turned back to me as if we were the only ones in the room. “That’s a lot of bad publicity we didn’t see coming if they leak this. Let me know what I can do to help.”

“And why would it get out?” I smiled, daring her to cross that line. One foot over. It’s all I needed. From the corner of my eye, I saw Fallon tense as she got ready to fight.
