Oh, I most definitely would.

The knock at the door made me frown. I heard his signature growl before his voice was in my head.“Aspen, what the fuck? Tell these guys to back off.”

I sighed as I hurried to open the front door of the hotel room where Beau and Ivan were strong-arming him.

“Luna?” Ivan asked.

“It’s fine.” I waved him down, still feeling awkward about the whole Luna thing. “He can’t do anything to me now. What do you want, Trenton?”

There was an angry tick in his jaw as he jerked his arms away and brushed himself off. “Let’s talk about this, alone.”

“No.” Ivan stepped forward. The big guy was even more terrifying when you knew he only answered to Ranger.

“It’s alright.” I rested my hand on his massive arm. “I’ll keep the door open.”

I padded back into the hotel room and took a seat on the edge of the couch, waiting for Trenton to say his piece. As much as I would have loved to cutall ties as quickly as possible, I didn’t think I’d get away from Nuva that easily.

“What are you trying to pull?” Trenton growled, looking to the open door. “My dad is going nuts.”

“Maybe he shouldn’t have tried to blackmail me.” I shrugged.

Trenton huffed. “Blackmail? What do you have that he’d ever want?”

Ouch, dude.“You don’t have to be a jerk.”

“I’m the jerk?” Trenton thrust his thumb into his chest. “You’re the one who’s always acting like you’re better than the rest of the pack because your dad stood up to mine.”

“How could you think that?” I basically got whiplash from how fast he’d turned my entire childhood on me. “You saw what he did to me. My dad challenging for Alpha did nothing but paint a target on my back. I’ve been trying to get out of that stupid pack for years.”

“Because Nuva Pack isn’t good enough for you. Is that it?” Trenton growled.

“No because pricks like you and your dad don’t care about anyone but themselves.” I was seeing red; angry enough to spit. Trenton wasn’t his father, but I couldn’t take my real fury out on the mean old man so the son would have to do. “I’m done being your babysitter and cleaning up after you. I refuse to live off the bottom scraps, listening to whatever some arrogant jerk on a power trip says, and jumping when he says to jump. You are not a real Alpha. You’re justsome backwoods trash who abuses his pack and is too cowardly to stand up to his own father.”

“Babysit me?” Trenton’s face blanched.

“That’s adorable.” A part of me thought I should tone it down, but my beast was riding me hard. “Daddy’s little spoiled brat didn’t let you know he’d forced the girl who rejected his son to protect him on this show.”

I realized I’d pushed him too far a moment too late. His hands curled into fists as he stepped into my space. I should have cowered, but I knew how to take a hit and I was ready for it. I planned to go down swinging. I just hoped to get one good punch in before Ivan and Beau got in the way.

“So you’re just going to fuck some rich Alpha and take his money? Prove that you’re somehow better than the rest of us since your dead daddy couldn’t even provide for his mate?” Trenton spit out each stinging word. “I knew you were a whore like your mom.”

Did he just slut shame us?

My grin was feral. “I will literally suck his dick every day for the rest of my life if it means getting away from you and your father.”

“Though I can’t wait to see those sassy lips on my cock,” Ranger’s voice purred from the doorway, drawing our attention, “there’s no need for that, love. I’d destroy all of Nuva Pack for you, asking for nothing more than a kiss on the cheek.”

“This isn’t over.” Trenton’s face turned red as he sputtered, looking to Ranger who stood leaningagainst the doorframe with his arms crossed over his chest.

“Yes it is.” I pointed to the exit. “It’s time for you to leave.”

“You are such a bitch,” Trenton growled.

“What did you say?” Ranger caught him by the throat. He moved so fast; I didn’t realize what was happening until Trenton dangled above the floor with his feet kicking the air.

As much as I’d love to do that myself, I didn’t want to actually kill Trenton. And I couldn’t risk anything happening to him until I was sure my papa was safely away from Nuva Pack.

“Can you put him down?” I pleaded, rushing to his side. “Please?”
