Nero laughed. “Yeah, that’s what I mean.”

I guess that wasn’t what he meant. And guessing what he actually meant made me hard.

“Did Cage and Quin make you feel comfortable?”

“They did. Quin’s really cool. He’s like a regular guy.”

“If you think he’s a regular guy, then you two didn’t talk enough,” he said with a laugh.

“No. Right. He’s about as far from regular as you can get. He told me how he can change,” I said vaguely in case he didn’t know.

“He told you that?” he asked before his eyes bounced up at him.

“Yeah. But I read everything about him growing up. So it was more like he told me who he was.”

“And you’re not freaked out by it?” Nero asked hesitantly.

“Why does everyone think I would be freaked out by it?”

“So, someone being able to turn into a wolf is normal for you?”

“I mean, it’s not like I could have grown up around people like him. He’s the only one of his kind, right?”

“Right,” he said in the most inexplicable way. “Well, I’m glad you enjoyed the game.

“The game?” I asked surprised by his sudden change of topic. “I did.”

“Does that mean you’ve gotten over whatever you have against football players?”

I looked at Nero amazed by everything I had learned about him today. Not only was he an incredible football player, but he was friends with the coolest person on the planet.

“I’m starting to,” I said with a smile.

“So, what you’re saying is “Thank you, Nero, for opening my eyes. For, they were closed before and now you have changed my life forever”.”

I laughed. He wasn’t wrong. But I was pretty sure that it wasn’t for the reason he thought.

“I’ll let you believe that,” I said before leaving him and rejoining Quin. I really liked Quin. And it wasn’t just because he was at the center of every one of my childhood fantasies. I had liked him before knowing who he was.

The crazy part was that before I got all fan boy on him, he seemed to like me too. Although this was my third year here, the closest thing I had to a friend was Cory, my roommate. Cory was sweet but he fit so comfortably into society’s expectations that his life had been easy. That made him hard to relate to. Quin was an outcast like me.

At the pizza place, I sat next to Quin and continued talking to him. Every so often I would look up at Nero and catch him staring back. Each time I caught him, I felt a rush. The feelings I had when I saw him at the pond were back. But that didn’t change that it was my job to help him, not get into his pants.

Talking about getting into his pants, when we were walking to the pizza place, I had glanced down below his belt. The bulge that stretched across the front of him was impressive. It was almost enough to make me forget everything, strip him naked, and ride him like a bull. Almost.

When the bill came, Quin grabbed it and no one made a gesture to pay. I offered to pay my share but he brushed me aside.

“You can get the next one,” he told me. “Hopefully we can hang out again.”

“Yeah, definitely,” I said elated.

I wasn’t sure if he was talking about the whole group or just the two of us. Either way, I wanted to.

“Did you have fun today?” Nero asked having walked me back to my dorm.

“I did. Your friends are pretty cool.”

“They liked you. And, I think you made a love connection with Quin.”
