“You sure you could take it? The hike, I mean.”
“You’ll just have to take it easy on me because it’s my first time.”
I paused wondering what he was referring to.
“Wait, you’ve never… “hiked” before?”
“Never.”
“Have you?”
“I grew up here so I’ve hiked a few times. But, I’ve never hiked with someone like you before,” I told him hoping we were still talking about the same thing.
“So, if we hiked together, it would be the first time for both of us?”
“Yeah, I guess. But, I’ve thought about hiking with someone like you plenty. And, you’re the type of guy I’d like to hike with for the rest of my life.”
“How would you know? We haven’t even hiked for the first time yet.”
“Because I’ve never wanted to hike with someone more.”
Kendall stared at me. “I just want to be sure. We’re both talking about sex, right?”
“I was.”
“So, you’ve never been with a guy before?”
“No. But, the thought of being with you… it keeps me up at night.”
Kendall slid closer to me on the bench seat and put his hand on my thigh. He looked at me for only a second and then returned his gaze ahead of us.
“I’d love to see whatever you want to show me,” he said turning a shade of pink as he did. “But, in time,” he clarified.
“When you’re ready.”
“Thank you,” he said moving his body against mine and getting comfortable.
With him next to me, I was tempted to never stop driving. I loved the feeling of his touch. So did my wolf.Unable to resist, I wrapped my arm around him pulling him even closer. It made me hard.
I wondered if he would start kissing me again. He didn’t. But we drove together as if he were already my mate. I wasn’t sure why he kept touching me like he liked me, yet would never say anything when I told him how much I liked him. Maybe he was hesitant. But, he was gay. Why would he be the hesitant one, when I was the one who had to step off a cliff to be with him?
I didn’t know, but whatever I had to, I was willing to do it to be with him. And, if that meant taking things slow, then I was good with that. Maybe “good” was the wrong word. But, I would do it.
Deciding that I wanted to show him more than just a beautiful hike, we drove out of town for thirty minutes. When we pulled over, it was at the edge of a lake.
“We’re here.”
Kendall peeled himself off of my chest and sat up.
“Where are we?”
“We are the furthest I’d ever been from home before I went to East Tennessee University.”
Kendall gave me a confused look and then scanned the lake more intensely. I was fine to stay in the truck and look at it from here, but he got out. Joining him I could tell there was something on his mind.
“What is it?” I asked guessing what he would say.
“This was the furthest you had ever been.”
